[Fixed] background object layering issue

Since the latest quest I've noticed on several dolls that some background walls or floors keep jumping to the front when you save your room even though you have put them on a bottom layer, these are old and new items so I am guessing there is something not quite right with the layering behavior.

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

I was just about to post this bug. I noticed it with one of my floors in the Cloud room and got a little annoyed that it kept jumping forward. I know items do that now and then, or sometimes they hide behind stuff, but I just have to move them again and it gets fixed (well, normally. Sometimes I have to move it twice before it stays put.) HOWEVER, I noticed it happening to other players and the bug is now messing with one of my French doll's. Grr~

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

I reported something similar to this yesterday. And also let the GM know that it is happening to more and more players, also on other servers as well.

But since it's the beginning of the weekend I am not sure that things will get fixed until Monday.

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

re-read Lilysummers post... =)  Ditto to what she said *winks*

I am now wondering if this is a new bug that is affecting not only new items but old items as well.

These flowers:

http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/76318.png

isn't new.  I've had them in my Loft room for ages, using them to cover the flames in my fireplace during the summer/spring.  Since it's now cold, I wanted the flames to show but I didn't want to send the flowers to the attic, so I placed them beneath the rug with a tiny bit of them showing.  Each time I save my room, they end up on top of the rug and not below.

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

They do affect older items too. I don't think they're item specific. I was able to repro with old items from like two - three years ago. Mostly were from DollzStory actually.

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

It definitely affects old items. My floor, which has been in the background for years, suddenly decided it wanted to be up front.
Today's attempt at decoration also saw a window insisting on being in front of the couch.

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

If you still have the problem, I've found that this happens whenever I use the item layering dragger and pulling it all the way down and saving.

Instead of using the layering scrollbar - I just place it where I'd like to go and move the layering pieces on top and this has stopped happening for me =]

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

I just sent the GM an update message on this matter to see if anything is being done.

I know it makes you kinda angry but there is nothing more that I can do but wait for a response.

Yes, I've also noticed that if you do it this way it'll less likely cause the object to move to the front. It doesn't work always but it's stil better than nothing. I just hope the bug will get fixed soon. It's very frustrating!

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

Is there any news on this bug?  This has to be the most annoying bug we've experienced.  It's hard to create an object out of other things if you can't precisely place something where it's needed.

I have this bug as well, it is quite annoying when you try to update a room or switch room and all of a sudden the background pieces is all over the place

This bug seems to be more difficult then expected. They are still trying to work it out.

It must be, I noticed that some grass flooring I put down a while ago and haven't touched recently suddenly appeared on top of things in my French doll's Noel room; and today the forest wall is suddenly on top as well. But some items don't seem to be affected by being covered up; like a snowy road...

Strange~

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

A good way of dealing with this bug is by actually taking adventage of it.
Just place everything where you want it to be, without bothering about the popping item, and when you're happy with what you have save your room. Now take the popping item that is supposed to be at the very bottom and slide it there as you would without the bug. Don't save yet. Now take an item you want to be at the top and slide it at the very bottom. Save now. The bug will push the last item at the top, just were you want it to be.

Feerik, just fix the bug already.

That's a good "work around" and I'm sure that Feerik would love for us to "settle" for this bug.

I noticed that the bug started with the Scotland quest.  They ought to look at what they did during that time, that would be a good place to start.

Something I've noticed quite a long time ago, with layering:

When you have something near the bottom of your room and you slide it back.... you've run out of room to let go of the slider button so when you move away after sliding it back, the slider goes back up.   I don't think that in itself was or is a bug, just something inconvenient.

I've created kitchen cabinets out of things such as a bath tub or a chair with some of the items out of the STREET store  (can't think of it's name right now) so when I'm done, you would never have guessed it was what it was.  You have to get that "just right" spot for a particular item.

This bug is close to a "deal breaker" in playing this game:  it could cause people to give up and stop playing and in the end... that would cost the company RL money.

Re: [Fixed] background object layering issue

I am still having this problem. I have tried to move individual objects back into place by ordering them back to front but occasionally it will still move the back item to the front even when I don't use the scroll bar. Now it is doing it with all my rooms...some of them I have not even arranged things in for some time and then I go into the room and my wall or window is in front of things.
