Symbol Hunt bug?
So, I'm trying to do the symbol hunt to get the cute little grill set for Independence Day, and I found a few symbols & clicked them. The regular message popped up, "you caught this symbol," but when I mouse over the thing on the left that shows your progress (the thing next to the quest), it still shows up as zero.
I'm pretty sure this is a bug, since I don't have zero symbols. I don't know whether it's counting my progress and not displaying it, or whether it's not counting at all.
I am using Google Chrome, if that has anything to do with it.

Yep, same here. I must be getting close, but I need to take a break and come back to it later.
Love the set, though. Perfect for the holiday.

Same is happening to my doll. I know that I have counted at least 35 so far and nothing is showing done.
Will we be given more time to complete, once this bug is fixed. If this is not fixed before time is up, will we all be given the gift anyway?

Not that another confirmation is needed, but this event is still not working... and I have tried multiple times since it appeared.
I had hoped that, even though the symbol count didn't change, the "Exchange" button would appear after 50... or the gift would show up in my loft. No to both.
It would be nice if they would extend the hunt for at least an extra day, or credit the gift automatically... since this holiday weekend tends to be especially busy for most US players. Even if the event got fixed tomorrow... I don't think I will have another chance to complete it in the time shown, which is quite disappointing =(
I greatly appreciate that Team Feerik makes an effort to observe national days for the various members of the OMD international community... this collection looks so nice! Bugged barbecue aside... I hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July =)

I figured it out ;) There surely must be a hole in the basket I'm collecting those symbols in and they are falling out as fast as I can catch them

I had collected a few when suddenly fireworks started going off. This startled me so much that I jumped and fell. All the symbols I collected fell out of my basket as well. (As in I didn't notice till I randomly decided to check) Yeah, I fell hard.

So, THAT'S what's happening ... because I know I've caught 50 symbols by now. Gah ~ I hope they fix it, or do something so that we can still get it. The classic 4th of July picnic; it's so perfect!

All right, I caught one and it actually counted! Let's hope my basket can keep holding them.
Update: Yes! I was able to collect those sneaky symbols without them breaking my basket and exchange them for the set. My Independence Day picnic is complete!
