Today, our history teacher made us discover primitive people from different continents. These indigenous people are still in the thousands with their own language, culture and tradition. Gradually they have began to disappear. Passionate about the subject, out teacher asked us to make a presentation on one of these "primitive" people and to make an outfit! I'll make my outfit, trying to make it larger than life.
On Tuesday 10am, you can register your doll for the fashion show "Primitive People"
You have until Monday, September 15th until it ends
Represent a primitive person of one of the continent: Africa, Asia, Australia, Latin America, the Caibbean and Oceania (Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia)
Required:
Minimum: 1 item from the Basics Store
Minimum: 1 item from the Amethyst Store
A tattoo or a mask representative of a member of the tribe
Prohibited:
Fantasy Elements
Modern Elements (remember that we must try to be as consistent as possible with primitive people
All made outfits, including te cabinets
Hidden Items
Staging and elements around feet
Fashion Models used, except as a second skin
Extra Information:
On August 9 is the International Day of Indigenous Peoples. UN created this day there are 18. Australian Aborigines, Papuan Irian Jaya, Guayaki Amazon, Maya Mexico pygmies of Zaire, Karem Burma, Kalahari Bushmen, they are still thousands in the world with their language, their culture, their tradition, myth and history of over 60,000 years. Peoples stateless, so without protection or right to self-determination, they gradually disappear in the general indifference of a world that brings more attention to the protection of historic monuments and preservation of animal biodiversity and the safeguarding of the first peoples.
I feel like they already had a theme like this but i guess this is different cuz that was cave people...This sounds like fun!
Is it just me or there are only 8 dolls registered into this Fashion Show?

No it's not just you, I feel the same way...I did some voting yesterday and I was amazed on how few there were

On the three in the first picture below, what stores can the items they have on be found? I am thinking that on the one on the far left, the face markings came from the QUEST where you got the Caledonia room that is "jungley." Not to "beat a dead horse" but I was under the impression we weren't supposed to use items from quests. Maybe that rule changed.
I"ll leave the pictures in my post but I'll add this bit of info which was pointed out to me by someone that can be found in this thread:

Items from quests are allowed, unless specifically stated otherwise.
Also, please don't hesitate to write what you want (as long as you follow the rules, of course ;) I don't want to be that kind of moderator to make people feel that way. I was just letting everyone know how I do/look at things in my previous post. :)
Maybe the reason why there is very few in this FS is because it seems like too much of a hassle because of so many issues whether supposed cheating or breaking of a rule, etc.
2nd group (one doll from first group appeared again)
3rd group: (two dolls previously appeared)
4th:
5th group (I guess this makes the 8th contestant?)

I actually always thought that we could use the quests' items but weren't allowed to use the gifts from friends and from Feerik (Gazette and free gifts from different days' celebrations). And I guess that only shows how much confusion there is about the Fashion Show rules and how unclear they are. I really think there should be a sticky topic at the top of this forum that would explain all the rules of both Shows. Right now it's kinda messy here.
We are allowed to use quest items
What IS allowed are items that you work.
Hunt Items are allowed because you have to spend time looking for stuff, quest items are allowed because you have prerequisites to buy before getting the gift. Flash Sales are allowed because you're buying the item sold, Pinatas are allowed because you have to wait for people to click on your pinata, etc.
What's NOT allowed are items you don't work for.
National Days, Gazette Gifts, Feerik Birthdays, Holiday gifts, Friend Gifts, Advent Calendar, etc.
I don't know how correct my logic is but that's the pattern I noticed looking through this "Forbidden Items List":http://us.ohmydollz.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=8749

Actually, that is an old post related to old restrictions, which were in place for only two shows that I can remember... all of which was discussed under the link provided by sierradane above. That information was confirmed by a mod.

*Italics are mine.
Furthermore, the post you referred to is titled "Gifts from your friends, from Feerik or la Gazette or National Day"... not "Forbidden Items List". That post was not kept up-to-date because those restrictions were removed... so it was no longer relevant. Items specifically forbidden can change from show-to-show, and the official "Forbidden Items" list is included with each Fashion Show theme.
In the two shows I previously referred to, one of which was the Young vs. Old show... the Forbidden Items specifically included these items:

- Gifts from your friends from Feerik or la Gazette or National Day gifts
Currently, the only "gift" items specifically excluded are these:

- Gifts between friends
I can assure you that the category of "National Days, Gazette Gifts, Feerik Birthdays, Holiday gifts, Friend Gifts, Advent Calendar, etc." are used, and approved, on the French site... and do not result in a pop-up "warning" about missing/banned items at registration.

Agreed!
***Text in pink, for those who do not know, are "direct links"... clicking them will take you to the corresponding post/topic.
Just to clarify for everyone you are ALLOWED to use quest items unless otherwise stated. Just follow the rules, and have fun creating your outfit (which means stay on theme). If for any reason you should have a question about the fashion show/loft show please feel free to ask a MOD.
I will also have a discussion with all the other mods to try and configure a sticky post for you all.
@n0regrets - Anya started the list because the banned list on the FS post kept using a few of the same things. I just thought as a safe route to use it since, the list consistently changes.
Also, I don't recall a pop up coming when you use a banned item. Unless that's new. Thanks for letting me know though.
