Step 2: Follow the color

I made the most particular encounter in one of these roads we all pass by a hundred time thinking to know what lies inside. It is a sliver of color that caught my attention. It was the first time that I noticed the drawings on the sidewalk, by wich I was walking by everyday, painted with spray can. The late afternoon light was superb. I took out my camera in order to take a picture under the setting sun.It was then that i saw her.

Step 3: Her name is Sarah

There, in my focus, a young woman is smiling to me. I lower my camere and see her on the other side of the road. I smile back at her, and bonds were created, united by the same ray of light. Her name is Sarah Evene though we just met, I had the feeling that we were already close. I follow here and she makes me discover parts of the city I was unaware of, just like this blind alley at end of which lied an old art's house. The glaring sunlight shines on the colored tiles of the façade. In the middle the verdure climbing up the walls, an open window invites us to enter...

Step 4: Urban Exploration

Everything inside seems intact and quiet. As if the tenants never left and that all were welcomed. It is nice and cool. Nature reasserts itself in the living room on the indigenous wallpaper. These places fill me with nostalgia, and at the same time I feel a growing presence, giving the decoration its personal touch and filling the place with a new force. It take some pictures but have the feeling that I am disturbing. I want to keep this place as a small secret, like a silent promise between Sarah and me.

Step 5: Memories of the passing time

We explore the house, from room to room and I discover new wonders, small details that delights me. And without realizing it, I start using less and less my camera. I pass my head through the opening of a door that no longer exists, and passes my fingers over the growth marks and names engraved in the wood of the wall, silent testimonies to the past.It is a bathroom, where everything seems almost intact. The plants which once decorated used to it have began to invade the place, due to the lack of human presence which whoild have hinder their growth, while particles of dust dance in the spots of colors that splash the soil. I close my eyes and I can almost hear the bursts of laughter ringing in the room, the lapping of the water stirred by the hands of the children during the bath time.Slowly, Sarah takes my hand and takes me outside... What does she want to show me?

Step 6: Sweet Child on Time

We stroll hand in hand. I do not know where Sarah is taking me, I feel like I am not even recognizing this neighborhood, in which I always lived in... We are taking the small streets to finally arrive on a square. It was breath taking. It was just the right moment of the day, when the last sun rays descended on the roofs, splashing the city of liquid gold. I leaned a moment on the balustrade, watching the colors change as Sarah was climbing the sculpture that decorated the center of the square, between the fountains. As I joined her, a little girl as red as an Autumn?s day joins us, attracted by our laughter. Simply happy to be there at this moment, we smile all three, tender accomplices of this radiant late afternoon.

I am following Sarah as she slips through the planks which seal the front door of the abandoned house. We climb the stairs who squishes under our steps raising an tiny cloud of dust. I want to question Sarah, ask her where she is leading me to, but she raises her index to her smiling lips in a silent sign of denial.At the end of the upstair hallway, the door opens on a dream. Is there any other words to describe a room in the clouds? Sweet and light, melancholic, and yet I do not feel any sadness. As we sated on the bed, watching the stars through the window, scratching sound made it self audible. I turned my head just have time to see a magnificent fox, surely entered the house, reassured by the silence. His bushy tail disappeaed and I wanted to turn back to Sarah to share this moment with her, but found only the void ... my companion had evaporated, as discreet as the fox.

Sarah drags me through the streets of the city as the evening begins to fall. We move away from the well-lit neighborhoods in direction of the more wild-looking houses surrounded by vegetation and whose open windows let out music and laughter. A soft light filters from behind the windows that hides the openings, which Sarah gently raises to let me through.It is soft and warm inside and an unlikely tree grows freely in the middle of the living room. Other people were there, laughing, discussing and welcoming us quite naturally, as if we were expected, and I felt more accepted among them than I have ever been. Sitting in a couch so soft that it seemed to engulf me, I tasted the vegetarian dishes that were served to me, flavors unknown to me.A young lady grabbed her guitar and started singing on a tune known to all, and together, in harmony, we all let our voices take off towards the the sky until the early hours of the morning.
