Step 1: A tale

For many years, my father who's a merchand told me a strange tale. It was about a prince who has been cursed. He lived far away in a castle on the hills.
Rumor has it that he was egocentrig, insensitive and capricious and because of that, a witch cursed his castle and everyone who was inside.
The whole village is talking about that tale and I wondered if it's not just a myth, a story to scare the kids.

Step 2: Belle

When I wasn't helping my father, I spent my time reading books. I often went to the clearing not far from our house, took out a book and immersed myself into the story, taking advantage of the complete calm around me.
My name is uzume but everyone just calls me “Belle”. My sisters were always jealous of that.
Unfortunately I don't have much in common with them. They regret their lives when we were a wealthy family and don't understand that we should be grateful for what we have and that our dad needs us to help him as good as we can.

Step 3: A cut rose

One morning my father got a letter. He had to go to the shore where a ship would bring loads of merchandise. My sisters asked him many costly things. I didn't want anything but as he insisted, I contented myself with a rose. They don't grow around here.
But my father got lost on the way back. It was snowing and he was hungry and cold. There was an abandoned castle where he found some food and a place to sleep. Before he left, he plucked a rose for me.
That was the moment, the Beast got into our lives.

Step 4: The encounter

I was horrified: The owner of the castle, a dreadful beast, requested that either my father or one of his daughters had to die because he plucked just this simple rose...
It was beyond question that my father would perish because of me, so I decided to extraditemyself to the Beast!
As I got to the castle, i was terrified at the sight of the Beast. It was really hideous. The next day I decided to have a loser look at the castle. I found a door with the lettering: Belle's Appartements”. The room was very beautiful and included a huge library.
How could a monster be so nice to me?

Step 5: Husband and wife

My heart broke when I saw my father in a magical mirror, he was so sad to get back home and my sisters seemed so happy that I was gone!
The Beast wanted to dine with me that night. I was afraid but the Beast wanted me to be the landlady, to do whatever pleases me and that I would be happy in the castle. It might be ugly but it had a good heart.
I couldn't help myself but wince when he proposed to me. My answer was negative and he just left the room with a sad face.
So I spent many months in the castle and its garden. Everyday the Beast came to propose to me.

My fear slowly turned into a deep friendship. He might be hideous but he was so nice and kind.
But marry him... I liked him but it was not love I felt for him. Althought, I felt bad for making him sad, so I promised him my friendship.
Concerned about how I felt, the Beast asked me once, if there was anything that would make me happy. I told him that I'd love to see my father again. He seemed so despondent last time I saw him, he must think I'd be dead by now.
The Beast seemed so sad thinking about me leaving, that I promised him to be back in less than a week.

Step 7: The dance

Before I left, the Beast invited me to a last dinner. I suddenly wanted to dance with him.
He didn't feel comfortable and first he didn't want to dance, saying that he was just a big Beast unable to dance.…
But I finally managed to convince him and we danced round and around for many minutes.
I felt so good in the arms of my new friend, I didn't even care anymore what he looked like, his heart was pure and good.

Step 8: The wedding

The Beast let me go and I was so happy to be back home that I forgot about my promise. I stayed a few days longer but then I really began to miss the Beast, so I rushed back to the castle.
I couldn't fint the Beast and assailed by panic, I ran through the whole castle screaming his name!
I found him lying on the cold floor in the snow covered garden. At this moment I felt it really strong, he was no friend, I was really in love and I felt so happy when he was close.
As I kissed the rough lips, I promised him to become his wife. The Beast then suddenly transformed into a handsome young man, a prince!
