Step 1: Hiking Weekend

Autumn is depressing isn't it? I, personally love it!
This weekend, my friends and I are planning on going on an adventure, hiking and camping in the woods! With those beautiful red and golden trees and thousands of leaves on the ground, it will surely be magnificent! In this season, everything seems magical!
We will also take this opportunity to pick some berries and lots of mushrooms! Hmm... Yum!
I wish I could be there already! I must hurry! It's time to prepare the bags! Nothing must be forgotten for such an expedition!

Step 2: The Forest

Upon our arrival, we were fascinated! It was more beautiful than in my memories! The wind gently blowing the trees, the scents in the air, the dry leaves crackling under my feet...
After spending three hours in a small car (I thought I was going to become mad! ) we were finally on foot. We chatted, laughed, sang, our big bags were technically heavy but seemed very light thanks to our good spirit!
When suddenly I asked everyone to be quiet for a second! We all looked in the same direction ... A few feet away, between the trees, we could see a deer!
"Oh it's beautiful! "
Caroline couldn't help making a loud comment, and the deer vanished in a split second! We got our revenge and tickled her until she was on the ground!!
Shortly after all this carry on, we decided to make camp. We were all hungry, those mushrooms smelt awfully good! Of course, rain began to fall, consequently it was time to take refuge in our tents...

Step 3: Storm

'This rain just wouldn't stop - but that was nothing compared to what we had to face afterwards.' In the space of a few minutes, this shower transformed itself into a massive storm! It was raining so hard that we couldn't see what was in front of us... In my lifetime, I have never seen such rain! It was indeed impossible to camp under these circumstances, we had to go back to the car...
We were Soaked to the bone, exausted and overloaded but we managed to do half of the way back... However, we suddenly came accross the beautiful stream we saw earlier but this time it was much larger and wild and had flooded the whole area, this was violent and dangerous, impossible for us to cross!
Armed with our maps and compasses, we tried to reach our point of destination by going round this violent stream but no success. Every time we thought we had found a passage, it was blocked by debris or flooded with mud, this was like a real swamp! If we didn't hurry, we would lose the trail for good. The storm raged, and the darkness of the night was creeping in ... It wasn't just the cold that made our teeth chatter!
'Over there! A light! Quickly ... This might be our only chance!

Step 4: The hut of the sculptor

The light came from an old cabin, this place was owned by a strange man... This man was clearly a hermit but was very generous! He welcomed us into his home and fed us with some of his lovely soup.
It seemed that we had gone back in time! Indeed, we had no electricity but it was nice to have candle light and a beautiful fire place, the man explained that he had hand crafted this cabin all by himself and seemed very proud of it.
After diner, we all ended up in front of the fire with a mug of hot chocolate.
The old man was sitting on what seemed to be an old rocking chair, he observed us while we were admiring his small wooden figurines when all of a sudden he said:
"Tell me, young ladies, do you believe in... Fairies?"
We all looked at him , smiled and giggled a bit. The man closed his eyes whilst smiling and said "Well you should... Did you know that without my muse, Maeve, I wouldn't be able to create all this?"
We all lacked words to say at this point as the hermit seemed very sincere in his speech. The old man opened a very large old book and cleared his throat before reading out loud.
"A long long time ago..."

Step 5: Queen Maeve

... I was in a clearing ... Surrounded by golden light! Where was the rain? The cabin? No time to wonder: in front of me, lying on a bed of moss was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen: a Fairy! A fairy?! A real one???!!!!
"I am Maeve, Queen of the Fairies.... "
What the... The Queen! But she seems very poorly and not well... I asked her what was wrong.
"A terrible evil is gradually taken over me. Without a cure, I'll vanish into oblivion ... This doesn't concern just me but also the rest of my people, can you help me? Please! I'm begging you! "
How to resist, with her big sad eyes, and her translucent wings fluttering with fever.
She explained that the only cure was a magic stone that was guarded by the Tree king at the heart of the Forest. No problem for me! I'm an experienced hiker! I'll ask him to hand over the stone to save the fairy people.
To Guide me in my new adventure, she summoned her cute little phoenix, Sparky, that will accompany me and show me the way and her own wooden talisman that should protect me in my quest!

Step 6: The King Tree

This wasn't easy as I thought it would be... The forest had changed drastically! Everything was strange, magical, enchanted , dangerous even!
Thank god Sparky is with me and guiding me through these beautiful yet strange woods! Between the circles of magic mushrooms (If you walk on it, you remain a prisoner!), The Naughty Goblins who believed that their jokes were absolutely hilarious by making you drop head first into the grass or by offering some fruit that would make you crazy, and these magical rivers that would instantly transform you into a fish after contact with water ... What a world!
I even had to keep the talismant close to my heart so that the large thorn bushes opened a passage to the heart of the forest. What a great idea I had to hike in this forest...
I finally arrived at destination, in the middle, stood the oldest tree in the world and it was grand and majestic! It was crazy, it looked like he was watching us and was ready to speak ...
"Have you come for the stone hidden in my roots, young girl? " His voice was terrifying and I almost ran away!
"Fear not. I will give it to you. But for that, you must prove your worth... Solve my riddle and you shall have the stone "

Step 7: The King Tree

When the queen held the stone in her hand, she straightened, stretched, sighed and made a beautiful smile! She glowed gently, just like a beautiful star ...
"You saved us all! Thanks again! The talisman is yours now, so you can always come back here if you think you're strong enough ... "
The golden forest suddenly disappears! I opened my eyes and I was back in the cabin. It was broad daylight and Caroline was shaking me so I could join the rest of the gang for breakfast!
"Quick, we have to go! The rain has finally stopped, and there is a big harvest festival happening in the village next door! "
A dream ... I must have fallen asleep while reading last night. But when I got up, I felt something hard in my pocket... The wooden magic talisman! I remained stunned for a moment. When I looked up, nobody noticed anything - except the old man, who smiled. He gave me a wink before returning to his meal ...
