Step 1: The Departure

With my girlfriends, we decided to go on a cruise for two weeks to visit the West Indies! No guys, no mobiles, no bills, no reunions, no work, no worries, just laughs, sun and cocktails!
After all the years we spent, we deserve to get a trip with girls to recharge the batteries! I've traveled a lot around the world, so I know very well what to take or not in my suitcase. This is a definite advantage when I see the girls prepare theirs... I feel they carry with them their whole lives.
Sophie is a little anxious. In addition, she often suffers travel sickness. So, considering the plane and the boat, I had to spend hours on the phone to convince her to come with us! I think she has a beautycase fully filled with all kinds of medicine. There may be a world war, you can stay safe with Sophie.
And this is the first time she leaves without her boyfriend, I feel it's a real experience for her! On the contrary, Alexandra is in her element. It's a bit the kind of girls that catch every sight, like a magnet, especially with boys... 90, 60, 90, Latin beauty, before knowing Alex, I reassured myself by thinking that this kind of model existed only in magazines but now I have the proof before my eyes, I can only feel sorry for myself.
And respecting me, I am the typical banal person. "My love, my friends, my shit" looks like those of a very boring people. I'm a reporter for a famous fashion magazine, I have a complicated love story and I'm officially on the edge of a hysterics crisis. So, this cruise arises here as a blessing that I could not let pass up.
At the airport I make a last call to Steve and the conversation quickly turns sour, like usual... Exasperated to see me fight, Alex take the phone from my hand and tells to Steve: "Steeve, listen, YOUR NAME is on vacation with us now. So enjoy the good company of your friends and leave us in peace. Addio, baby boy!". And she hangs up with satisfied air.
I look at the girls for five seconds and then we all shout in chorus: "Let's go girls! It's party!"

Step 2: Captain! Oh my captain!

On the plane, Alex and I have given our rum shots offered by the company, to our friend Sophie. The advantage is that instead of listening to her talking about potential catastrophic scenarios simulating a panic attack, she slept like a baby after the first film.
Alex and I spent the time looking at the guys in the aircraft. We chuckled, imagining the life of any of them. Eight hours with Alex go fast and more than one time we laughed until have pain in the face and in the stomach.
Upon arrival, we almost had to smack Sophie to wake her up. She was a bit confused. It seems that the effect of rum didn't evaporate completely.
We take a bus that brings us to the boat. Cruises always give me the uncomfortable feeling of belonging to a herd of sheep. But the advantage is that no one cares about anything! Sure, it changes from my trek in the Amazon with Steve, but it is good.
The cabin is nice, we each have our bed, and a beautiful view of the ocean from the large window at the back of the room.
We spent the afternoon chatting on the deck. Alex has already set her sights on the Commander. A kind of mixture between Mr What Else? and Kevin Costner... She always had a weakness for clichés.
Sophie, meanwhile, spent two hours in the toilet because of her seasickness. Then, finally, she found bracelets against seasickness, that works through acupuncture.
Tonight Creole festival is organized by the staff of the boat! The opportunity to empathize with other guests and have fun!

Step 3: Dominique

The evening has been very nice. Alex finished dancing on a barrel, Sophie spent the evening talking with a lady about her seasickness and her phobia of seagulls, and me, I spent my time dancing with very charming types, but quite elderly.
Today, we are going to stop for several days in Dominica Bay.
With the girls we have decided to make a tour in the "Trois Pitons" national Park. There is a boiling lake housed in a crater and beautiful waterfalls.
Local people are very friendly, we feel part of the landscape. We also visit the Fort Shirley and we walk a short tour by mini-bus to discover the inside of this Island.
Then we made a diving session, hoping to see turtles, but what we saw was a jellyfish that picked Sophie. We had to convince her that she will not die and no need to amputate, even if her leg had doubled in volume. Just an allergic reaction.
And then we were all taken to laugh when Alex found a way to dredge the medicine that the doctor gave to Sophie in the emergency.
Jellyfish will be part of the new phobias of Sophie!
The next day we went to see the Carib Indians. In their village I have bought a pretty basket.
The Island is really small, and the roads are catastrophic! In our small car, rented for the occasion, we had a hard time returning to the ship in time!

Step 4: Martinique

We continue our cruise to Martinique. The ride is short. The island seems less wild. Turtles must zigzag between the anchors of many boats.
We have a beautiful view on the rock of diamond. It's a small uninhabited island. It is called like this because its shape reminds the precious stone. I imagine the pirates fighting for a fabulous treasure...
We spend a few days on the island. We leave for the day, on a large catamaran to discover all the small islands around. We stop to see mangroves and iguanas... We dive on the reef with fins, mask and snorkel to observe corals and small fish.
Then Alex prefers spend long hours of relaxation and sunbathing on the beach rather than climb Mount Pelee. Sophie too want to rest, her feetbulbs hurt her. And frankly it's true, a five-hours walk is hard.
I still have managed to convince them to visit the area of Clement, where sugar cane plantation are, and rum is made there. The property is beautiful; it extends over 160 hectares dominated by an old Creole house.
We decided to rent a small car to get to the gardens of Balata. It's Beautiful! Particular attention is given to the staging.
We stay a while and then we return to the boat to continue the cruise!

We continue cruising to Guadeloupe. Alex tells me eagerly about her last evening spent with the Captain, and this it takes three long hours.
I look forward to exploring this island, I heard beautiful things about it. So most of the time, while Alex is talking, I just nod my head wisely and say something like: "Mmh, mmh" She never stops talking! One day I'll explain to her that it's possible to spend a great time in silence...
Sophie, meanwhile, sits in her cabin. Her last sunburn makes her suffer. Every ten minutes she puts a cream on, and she stays static like a starfish on the bench.
We arrived here on Butterfly island! We decided to leave for lunch in a picturesque small strawhut. Small hummingbirds suck sugar that people hang them. For dessert, we shared a big bowl of exotic fruits, delicious!
We take the Afternoon for a relaxing break on a paradise beach... Alex is doing the lizard in the sun and Sophie stays wisely under the shadow of a coconut tree, then suddenly I have a terrible doubt. And if a coconut fell down? Without alerting Sophie, I suggest her nicely to go under another tree...
I go for a swim and watch the sea. The colors are fabulous and I see a lots of colorful small fishes!
We will visit a small zoo. We see the racoons, it's super cute!!!
We leave tomorrow to spend the day on Holy island! So Pretty! People go around only walking or with scooters. What a laught when we rented one!
We feared a bit with these winding roads, you have to be very brave to drive here!
We enjoyed the beautiful beaches and diving. Before leaving, we had an ice cream on the beach.

Before leave Guadeloupe, a great night on the beach is organized! I decided for a super fashion suite! We spent a long part of the afternoon with the girls to go shopping! I promised to myself to be reasonable... But tonight, I want to have a lot of fun!
Alex absolutely wanted to makeup me, to highlights my sight, as she says. I do not go out every day with such a makeup, but for the occasion, it was fine, and for once, I was happy with my reflection in the mirror!
The organizers did a great fire on the beach. It's beautiful and it immediately puts a friendly atmosphere!
Many musicians are already in place! The music starts. I do not know how to dance, but I don't mind. The music brings me away and I start to dance as I can for minutes...
I forget everything. It's funny, Steve didn't rise in my thoughts since I left, I don't heard from him for days now and... I do not miss it! I even feel better, far from him.
While drinking a cocktail, I think I'll have to be valient and tell him that our relationship is finished... I'm fine when we do not see us, and when we are together, we spend our time quarreling... Our shared passion for adventure is not enough, we're too different in the daily life.
While I dance, a young Caribbean boy come close to me. An ounce of guilt sneaking through my mind but his big smile and his muscular arms invite me to forget everything. I decided to dance with him! I'm right, I'm not committed to nothing!
Tonight I feel no guilt, I feel just fine, I laugh, I'm having fun, and it didn't happened for months!

I feel like we are on the Pacific Princess cruise. With my love problems and the story of Alex with the commander, we could do a TVserie!
I'm here on my bed, running out all tissues of the box, with googly eyes, red nose and swollen lips. With Alex, who told me that I'm right, and Sophie, who seems more cautious, I do not know where I am.
"But do you miss Steve or you don't?" Alex asked for the umpteenth time.
No, I do not miss him, and you can ask me even ten times more, I will not miss him.
"You know, three years together are quite long time, and routine comes at the end, it's normal" said Sophie.
Listening to her, I should be happy with a boring and tastless love. No thank you, Steve is not good for me and that's all. It's easy to say that when, as Sophie, you found a gem...
"You are beautiful darling, you have talent, don't ask you these questions! Men are like... pop corn! It's hard to resist to them, but after they are quickly disgusting" said Alex.
I cannot prevent laugh! She always manages to give me a smile, even when she does not do it on purpose.

We spent the rest of the day at the pool. Take three girls a little sad, put them around a swimmingpool and count the dead.
It's ugly but it's good to say bad things about others from time to time, to feel that there are people more sad than us... It's almost the end of our cruise so we console as we can!

Step 8: Pirates!

For the last day, during the time of the sale that brings us back to the Airport, the crew decided to organize a roleplaying game with the theme of pirate!
Alex wasn't happy, wear costumes and play a role are quite far from her favorite activities. Sophie is concerned because of the game: "Do not you think that it is a thing a little crazy???" but I am super excited! I love pirate stories and we are in the perfect place! The Caribbean Sea!
The boat is decorated for the occasion, it looks very good!
I've got my character sheet, I embody the bloody captain Carolina The Red! I have to steal the treasure map of another pirate without being noticed! All players have a character sheet with a specific goal, I'll have to be wary...
I've been given a pretty parrot that supports my character! And he speaks!
The evening goes well. In the end nobody really achieved its goal but we all have a good laugh. I'm getting sad for the cruise neding, especially because I know what is waiting me... But the essence of holiday is that they have a beginning and an end!
Anyway with Sophie and Alex, we promised to go on holiday again together!
