Sorry, but is 10am based on the European timezone?

I didn't list everything but based off a time zone map, this should be around the time it starts in these cities/time zones:

Sydney (AEST): 9 PM
Tokyo (JST): 7 PM
Manila, Shanghai (AWST): 5 PM
Jakarta (JVT): 4 PM
Moscow (BGT): 12 Noon
Paris, Cape Town (MET): 10 AM
London (UTC): 9 AM
Sao Paulo (BZT): 5 AM
New York (EST): 4 AM
Houston (CST): 3 AM
Phoenix (MST): 2 AM
L.A (PST): 1 AM
Hawaii (AHST) 10 PM - April 9th

What about South Africa cause that is where I'm from.

I almost thought the site is closing and almost got a panic attack.

Well, it appears that Cape Town is on the same time zone as Paris.  Im not sure what all areas of Africa are considered the south part..

So, to answer your question - No. They have no intentions of closing OMD down (the main site or any of the other countries).  They are actually looking into ways to make it even better!  Yay! :D

That is really good news that their not closing down cause I can't go through that again. I love this site so much that I don't know what I will do without it.

I gonna spend my whole spring break on OMD to create whatever nonsensical topics I can think of.

Any idea just what sort of maintenance this is going to be? And will this affect any of their other games???

I can only think of two likely possibilities, I'm sure there are more.

First would be a hardware upgrade. I'm not too sure about what Feerik has, but I'd doubt it, since multiple redundant servers is not uncommon to provide reliability, so I rather doubt it.

Second, could we possibly be looking at a major update to the item database? Something where we could actually search for clothes or any other number of possibilities. I'm not what something like that would take, but could completely restructure their file system for images. Even if that part doesn't occur (Hope not since all the guides would then have broken links :(  ) There are well over 50k items in the stores so just making sure that everything works properly once uploaded may take time.


Well those are my Wildly Aimed Guesses. Anyone else going to take a WAG?

mm.. well, if I'm not wrong and I've done my math well... I think that in Argentina (where I'm from) is from 5 AM... (We've a difference of 5 hours with Europe) And by that time, I'll be till sleeping...

Now that the site maintenance is over, I have to say...that wasn't too bad...it started at 2am (MDT) and ended at 7am (MDT.)

So, 5 hours.  For me, it was all when I was (supposed to be) sleeping. ;)

I hope it was as easy for everyone else. :)

Well, I imagine it was no different then we have to occasionally clear our cookies, cache, etc. and do a system defrag and so on.

The only difference is that because their server holds so much data, and hasn't been done for goodness knows how long, it took them 5 hours to get it done (unlike the minutes it might take us.)

I'm also thinking that their system maintenance also involved clearing up stray coding and perhaps making room for more coding (for when they add new items/rooms, etc.)

That's my best guess, anyway. ;)

lol I tried to log in this morning and started to freak out a little bit when I saw the "system busy" screen before I realized it was Tuesday, which meant that there was site maintenance going on....missed a day's work, but no big deal. I missed a lot more than 1 day last week before we got the new laptop to work with!
