I followed behind thinking about the conversation before. I didn't want to go back. But in the end I had to. I just needed to get him safely out of there and then I'd never had to see the place again.

Verene startled me. "...I..I can't...I just...I left my little cousin there. I can't imagine what they're doing to him on account of me leaving. I have to save him somehow."

Before thinking I said, "Why don't we open a nursery? You with your cousin and Xavier with Mika..." I then cleared my throat and apologized, "I'm sorry...I'm under stress...I would want to help you though...I'd hate see another innocent child turn into a pshyco because of bad parents."

"...I'm not going anywhere...First, Xavier and I get m...ma...." For the first time I was stuttering. Xavier smirked before saying, "Married. Come on. It's not that bad. I remember a time when we were going to..." I elbowed him in the chest to stop him from talking, "Just do it!"

"There'll be NO celebration because we are NOT really getting married. Can we all remind ourselves that this is not real?!" I turned to Iree, "Could you get them so we can get this over with before I change my mind?"

I nod my head and turn in the direction of the clerk. I ask him for the marriage papers and he asks me the names of the couple. And I say them. He hands me a small stack of papers and tells me that they had to sign it and bring it back to be stamped as official. I thanked him and left to find everyone.

What was Xavier going to say before Verene stopped him ? And why doesn't she want her friends to know about it ?

Well, I know one thing. Whatever the secret is, Verene does not want to tell us.

Xavier:
I saw Iree come back with the papers and said bowing, "Thank you." I took the papers and got out a pen from my pocket and extended the things towards Verene, "Ladies first?"
She hesitated a little before taking the pen and signing. I followed suit. After we were both done, I laughed and said, "I'm honored Mrs. Parduc."
Verene made a face and covered her face with her hands.
I couldn't help but chuckle even more. I looked at my little daughter, "Well...one last thing. I need to adopt my little daughter."

I took the papers from them and went to get them stamped. After leaving the store, I bought a little folder to put the papers in. "Here you are. It's official now." I said handing them back the stamped papers.

"...Woohoo...." I said mockingly before turning to Xavier, "Sign her adoption papers and let's get going." He looked at me before clearing his throat, "Uh...There's just...Well...I forgot about something..."
I looked at him suspiciously, "You'll have to sign the papers with me...Since you're my wife?"
My jaw dropped.

"No! I don't want to have another mommy! I already have one! She's up there, in the sky! I don't want anyone to replace her!" I said. I started to cry. I went to Iree so she could fix all of this. I could not stop crying.

"Well...Guess what?! I don't want to be a 'mommy' either!" I said angrily.
Xavier started calming her down, "Come on, Little one! You know that this is all a pretend! I'm gonna be your daddy. And for just this little while Verene is gonna be your mommy on papers. She's never replacing your mommy."
I rolled my eyes. Since when did he care that much about a kid?!

I wiped away my tears. "Oh. Right. I forgot about that. But where are we going to go ? And what if Verene doesn't say yes ? And where will she live ? Is she gonna live with us ?" I have so many questions.

I bent down and held her arms gently as I said, "Verene would never say no...Right Verene?"
I turned my head slightly to look at her. Verene glared at me for a second before looking away, "...You'll take custody when we get a divorce...I'm not the motherly type."
I smiled a little. That was the closest I was gonna get of a 'yes'. I turned to face Kayla and said, "See?...As for all of the other questions. We're gonna think about them...We might need to stay together temporarily...until our parents get what they want...We can stay in the same apartment with different rooms or something."

I chuckled at her enthusiasm and looked at Verene. She was so quiet....I guess she must have been feeling defeated. We got to the guild and I opened the door for them, "After you, ladies." I said to all of them. "And gentleman." I added for Carmine.
