And about a year later ... I came across my topic and saw your comments, ladies. You really are inspiring. I've finally come back to this outfit and will hopefully continue working on this.



I remember that the top was inspired by a real outfit I found on pinterest, but since it's been so long, I don't know if I can still find that picture. If I find it, I'll post it.



As for the hair, I was playing around a little with the shading and highlights. I still need to make progress, buuuut... I feel that I still am getting the palette wrong.


Anyway, what do you think? I'm eager to learn so let me know what needs to be improved and what you like. Thanks!!

I love the colors of this collection :3 I originally thought the ruffle at the bottom was part of the shirt, but when I realized it was the waist of the skirt it was that much cuter!  As for the hair, I love the base colors you chose (especially the salmon, teal, and purple).

Regarding your "perceived palette problems": not sure how you work with hair shading but I work on three separate layers: my base color, a multiply layer (only black shading), and an overlay layer (black and white shading), and then I play with the opacity of those layers to achieve my desired level of brightness and contrast.

Every artist is different though, and there's no "right" way to do things!  What works for me may not work for you (my documents are huuuggeee, exploding with layers and folders) haha

I really love our mannequin models, but since there are no side ones, I've created one. It's of the same style (but most probably I'll improve the shading later a bit).

A loooong long time ago I posted the outline of a dress. After that my laptop died on me so I never got around to finish my designs. After a whooole year, I finally have a laptop!! And I also finally finished the green dress :)
