I've actually wanted to cosplay for about two years and I've started REALLY wanting to about three months ago or so?
I have no idea if I'm ever gonna do it or not.
I mean, have any of you guys cosplayed/wished you could cosplay?
There aren't many conventions in my country and a few cosplayers, but I don't really know since I've never gone to any. Plus my friends aren't exactly keen on cosplaying since my best friend isn't even that addicted to manga (Whut? Really?? Yep.)
So... what about you guys have any of you wanted to cosplay? And if you do cosplay, who have you cosplayed as?
I've always wanted to cosplay ^^ But my parents think its a waste of time so i cant >.>
Hopefully when I learn to sew (this summer) I'll be able to make my own cosplay clothes and wear them. (Yeah I'ma wear them to school)
Are you kidding me? I have the worst problem of deciding who to cosplay as! So many choices!
I'm actually going to a convention this Saturday and I'm cosplaying as a gender-bent Spirit Albarn from Soul Eater. I get to meet Vic Mignogna, the voice for my character. <3
The next con I've got is Manafest and I think it's no surprise to say I'm going as Erza Scarlet.
No way. What!!! You are sooo lucky Rare!!
I've cosplayed since I was in sixth grade, though ever since I started high school, I haven't cosplayed or have gone to cons as much. My practices don't give me the time to sew and competitions leave me with no free weekends to go to a convention. Though I did get a cosplay done off-season and I went to a convention in January. I cosplayed a vault dweller from Fallout 3.

@rare : Lucky =( Do you buy all your stuff?
@hara : Wow, where'd you get the clothes?!?!
@malu : Wow, creating your own cosplay outfit?! That's so cool!! To school too? Good luck and I hope it happens for you! ^_^
I'm sure my mom would let me go to cons and stuff if I asked, but I'd have no one to go with and only a 1/8th chance of her even considering buying cosplay materials =(
However, I have started trying to make my own cosplay horns. It's a paper mache project and I picked horns because they can be in all shapes and sizes, plus a lot of my fav characters have horns. And I'm planning on asking my mom for acrylic paints and some shirts from our factory. Since if I ever start cosplaying, it'd be small cosplays I can easily use or the clothes of which I can wear casually. I dunno what to do about make-up/face-paints though. =_="
I make everything from scratch. I only buy my fabrics. I was lucky enough to only have to make a black scarf and buy turquoise contact lenses for this con. <3

I order a HUGE men's jumpsuit from Dickies and resized a lot of it to fit me. The yellow ribbon was sewn on since the jumpsuit was plain blue. You can't see it here, but I ironed the numbers 101 on the back with these iron-on jersey numbers from a craft store.
Re-sizing and modifying clothes is a lot easier than making it from scratch. When I had the time back in middle school, a lot of my cosplays were made from scratch.
Lol yes! (I think that comment was meant for me I'll answer it anyway)
I'll probably do mostly the dresses and stuff but yeah. If they are somewhat casual, then yes I will wear them to school
@angel : lol, whoops XD I think I was on another topic while typing my reply so I got your name mixed up XD.
My paper mache horns are actually coming along nicely. Though do any of you guys know if poster paint or acrylic paint would cover up the newspaper's ink better? I don't want random stuff being seen through the paint.
No problem :))
So i searched it up, and found that people use acryllic paint for paper mache
I sent you a pm

So I had Supanova today and I went as a genderbent Death Scythe/Spirit Albarn
I mean, come on. <3 It was great. Vic said I looked beautiful. <3
Looks really cool, rare. Wish I had the clothes (and the friends) for that :(
I can't decide who to cosplay for Supanova (Sydney) :(
It's going to be cold tooooo!
Maybe Claire Redfield or Pinkie Pie?

Y-You're in Sydney?! I'm in Melbourne! <3
Go as Pinkie.
Go as Pinkie Pie :D (Post pictures here? [if you want] :D)
Also, I'm (planning on) going to a Visual Music Carnival tomorrow sponsored by a lot of anime/manga related stuff, hopefully they'll sell cosplay stuff so I can put together a decent-ish cosplaying outfit. Also, I'm looking for ways to make props without actually buying them or using stuff I can actually buy (none of those model-magic thangamajigs for me, they don't sell it here D: )
Hopefully, these flour-water-salt clay mixtures I found on the internet works.
Also, I'm planning on going to an actual con (I think) in may. *sigh* I should've gotten more into this in january, they held a cosplay-market where they sell cosplay stuff like wigs (which I can't make so I have to buy if I need them) would've made getting into cosplaying easier XD
They sell cheap, good quality cosplay wigs on eBay. I'd check there before buying anything at a con. Their prices are outrageous.
Yeah, but sometimes it's not worth the shipping costs, prices can go waayy up just because of shipping. It's really annoying >_<
But I'll check just to see XD

They should also have some cheap ones.
