Re: Advent Calendar - Behind closed doors

You can open missed days with 15 fee'z. I accept it and at the same time deny it. I am happy with it because...
+You can get missed items
...but...
-It's for money and kinda unfair. Imagine it, one day your computer brokes and you miss the coolest thing and you are able to go to OMD only in next day and now you have to pay...

Alright, I know, I know - Feerik is a company and also busniess so they need us to pay so they can keep the game and we can play it.

Re: Advent Calendar - Behind closed doors

I missed the very first day because I was away all day on Thursday. I was very disappointed when I realized I had missed the first day and therefore would not get the final reward for opening all the doors, but then I tried one of the free Feez offers (make an email account with a certain provider) and it worked! 15 minutes later there were my very first-ever Feez sitting in my account. I was very excited, as previous attempts at free Feez have failed. So, I happily opened the first day's door to get the picture and hopefully I won't miss any more days now!

Re: Advent Calendar - Behind closed doors

So far, I'm disappointed with what they are offering... I was looking forward to Christmas decorations instead of an outfit for the doll.  The colors aren't really Christmasey either.

There is a final reward for opening all days?  I must have missed that.  Can someone please confirm this? :)

Personally, I'm happy that so far, the items aren't all Christmas items.  I like the fact that the black shoes, skirt, scarf and bracelet can be worn all year long, however, I do agree that it would be nice to get some Christmas decorations.  I'm hoping the closer we get, the more Christmasy the items will get. :)

I couldn't find a post on the Board with the Advent Calendar news... but here is the link to the Feerik blog for December 1st (http://blogus.feerik.com/index.php/Ohmydollz )...

...and here is the easily overlooked information to which you refer (I missed it the first time, too :P)

"Think about opening your calendar everyday : if you open all the cases you will receive an exclusive bonus gift. If you ever miss one or several days you can open up the previous days for 15 fee'z !'

Re: Advent Calendar - Behind closed doors

Thank you so much Orangemaid for posting that response. There are so many issues addressed there that cover the entirety of the game and its aspects like Fee's and events and rollover times that are constantly a problem.  I think that before anyone posts any complaints about the game they should read YOUR response as it is well developed and politely stated.

I think it's selfish that OhMyDollz is controlled in...Europe?, right? Anyway, who ever runs is not giving people on this side of the globe a chance to log on and receive the free gifts.I mean I get wifi at my school but only have time to do maybe 2-3 of my 8 accounts. And by the time I get home and get the chance to log back on, it's already the next day over in who-knows-where! Does anyone else think it's a little unfair? Or is it just me?

OMD Selfish??? Here they are, offering us free stuff and you call them selfish? And they give us free things all the time.

Further, that a company in France (show some respect and know this please, it's not hard to figure out), founded the game and then bothered to get a team together to translate and run the site a second time? After all, Feerik gets all the flak* when Acclaim, who licensed the game as Diva Dolls, failed. The game runs on French time, and I'm sure that for other American based games the European communities feel just as frustrated, so equal frustration all around is fair, right?. I'm on Pacific Standard Time so the rollover is 3pm for me and I plan accordingly.

And doing this at school? I'm past that age, but I can still see so many ways to nag about it, I'm sure you can too. But seriously, either A) Only do this at home, you will be past the time rollover and not have to worry about. or B) Log in, get your job, skills, and gifts and log out. Shouldn't take more than 1-2 minutes a doll so 8-16 min. THEN do the rest at home. Seriously, do you need 8 dolls?

* I'm not absolving anyone of the closure, and respect the hassle and heartbreak everyone went through. I'm sure there were ways that both companies could have dealt with the closure better.

Now I'm a simple girl who doesn't get upset on little things, but I have my moments, like this one, where I just want some justice. We shouldn't have to pay for a gift they are originally giving to us for free. Also, what's the point of getting a bigger reward for opening all the boxes? I thought Christmas was the season of giving...not...open it or pay me. Also, people travel during Christmas, meaning they probably aren't carrying around a laptop or anything just so they can get a virtual loft item. We're supposed to be spending time with our families. If anything, if we do have to pay, at least make it DB so if we do want a larger reward, we can actually have a chance.

Careful dear, your Amercanism is showing. You know, how a lot of the rest of the world views us, spoiled, lazy, self-centered. And that can be from countries that like us. Yeah travel happens in other countries, but the distances are much less for many, and what makes you think that Europeans are as well wired as the US? There are a great many places in Europe that do not have consistent access to the amenities we take for granted, water, heat, power, refrigerators, washers and dryers, etc. Actually you might find better access to cellphone (and wifi) than some of those, but things vary from place to place.

So... Justice? What crime has been commited against you?

And the idea isn't paying for the gifts. The primary idea behind events like this is loyalty, rewarding those who are faithful and dedicated. Now last year, I only paid attention to the calendar midway through, so I lost out, but opening missed days was NOT an option. That's all it is, an option, one you are free to take or leave.

I mean I think using actually money to buy virtual items is the stupidest thing a person can do. People are wasting money on something that could crash at any moment. Isn't there a certain amount of Feez's for like $30? Well, if the site crashes, you just lost $30 that you'll never see again over something that's made through 0s and 1s (how a computer works).

On Feez, on anything really, research is your friend.

Ah binary. "There are 10 types of people in the world, those who know binary and those who do not." <-- I wish I knew who first quoted that.

But how aware are you of just how the computer understands binary and uses it??? That it is even more ephemeral than 1s and 0s, but the raising and lowering of voltage, passing through logic gates. Do you truly understand what a 'crash' is? A crash is when there is an error state to the extent the machine cannot function properly. Errors actually happen all the time, and the computers check them all the time and usually catch them.

This is entirely different than the type of 'Crash' you seem to mean, which I believe is along the lines of a Stock Market crash, which is still different than your intent, which I would believe to be Feerik closing.

If you are indeed referring to the website failing without notice, well even Acclaim gave notice, if poorly, and an also poor method to get a refund for money spent near the games end life. And unless Feerik fails or they decide to close the game for other reasons, the website will be here. Because the other wonderful thing about binary is it allows people to store data, so that the website can be backed up should there be a catastrophic system failure and the server that hosts the game dies... Apologies for being a little to geeky here.

As for buying game currency...

I suspect, since you are in school with 8 dolls, that A) you have little to no income and B) your family will not let you, when it comes to purchasing Feez, As such, your words sound like sour grapes.

However, that does not mean I disagree. I have spent more time than it is worth earning Feez through tasks and other offers, but I have not purchased anything directly with my own money. Economically, purchasing directly would be better, and getting wrapped up in tasks has has hurt the way I play OMD.

On the FLIP SIDE:

Consider, purchasing Feez may get you in-game currency or other things.Or you may consider a purchase to be like that of a ticket for a movie, game or concert. You are paying for the experience. People who pay more get better seats and perks. Don't knock those who pay for those seats if the attraction offers the standing room for free.

I'm just going to leave it at that. If anyone agrees or disagrees, let me know. I just ask you don't insult me with your remarks.

Well, I always try to be polite, I don't think I managed, but then again, I feel insulted by how uninformed you present yourself, (come on, French, France, not hard). Goodness knows how ignorant I can be (reference this same post and how I was asking about the cost to open doors), so I don't mean to hold that against you, but if you do not know, find out.

Also insulting: you called Feerik, selfish when they are giving us the game and the opportunity for free things. But what are YOU giving to Feerik? Maybe you are right, maybe not, but all I see is you giving them grief and disrespecting others who do think this game is worth paying for.

PS. I am no expert on what went down between Feerik and Acclaim. I played Ponystars and Age of Lore (which was Acclaim's license of Feerik's Ponyvallet and Age of Magic respectively) AoL Acclaim let die, with out word, before the company folded/was bought out, but I saw the refund notice on Ponystars.

I just have to show one thing.

Please, while I appreciate that people liked my reply on the other subject, no more. I'd still like to delete it, but with people quoting it, there is no point since I can't purge their posts *le sigh*. Get this thread back to holiday/advent theme, pretty please with sugar plums on top???

Now I'm off to decorate my real imitation tree, &c. Seeing if anything sparks my imagination for the Doll Decoration Contest, toodles.

Re: Advent Calendar - Behind closed doors

very interesting... we sometimes get off-topic for a SINGLE reply and over a thousand members start to mini-mod, but this time we got off-topic for over 5 replies and not even the mods themselves complained about it... i mean, this thread was suposed to help us know what were/will be all the rewards from the calendar, and then suddenly people start to comment about someone who was complaining about feerik's system/server time/whatever-related-to-gift-taking for no reason but to make that person feel bad. and what did you win from this? nothing. if you think the person is being imature/selfish/silly/lonely/whatever-impression-you-had why don't you simply ignore that person's coment and keep posting on-topic replies? yeah, orangemaid might be right, and then? is it a reason to quote something she was willing to REMOVE from the forum?

oh well, i was going to just coment "wow, good thing i've lost just a useless space-waster item instead of a nice item and the tops from days 7 and 8 were so cute! sad thing i missed the shoes to go with the outfit..."and blablabla but please,

orangemaid wrote:

This really isn't the place for this, but there is just so much that rubs me the wrong way here. Sorry all. I'll delete this in a day or two when my bit of temper has passed.

WHY on earth did you all quote the post? have you all missed THIS?

orangemaid wrote:

Thanks both of you, Anyamalfoy and eyecandy9 for the support. I do still intend to delete it (and this) from the thread because it really isn't about the Advent calendar at all.

For my own reference I'll probably copy and paste it into a file on my own machine, and remove it tomorrow.

Anya? I don't suppose as a Mod you could move the related posts elsewhere? S'okay if not.

and THIS?
by the way, if a mod deletes the off-topic posts, it would also be nice to delete this one as well for obvious reasons, before this thread changes subject!

so please mods, delete the off-topic replies from this thread, if the posters won't. and let's get back to the calendar gifts discussion, shall we?

i was just going to olny post a simple on-topic comment. but how could i ignore the fact that the very same poeple who (seem to)love to mini-mod were posting off-topic for several replies?

and i already know what you're going to say about my comment, so please, DO NOT REPLY and if you disagree so much with what i said, JUST IGNORE THIS POST AND GET BACK ON-TOPIC! (and even if you reply, i'll just get back on-topic and ignore any replies, even if they say they agree with me)

let's coment about what you're thinking of the gifts so far, let's thank orangemaid for the calendar guide, let's try to guess what will come next, but let's stop with that non-related subject!

Re: Advent Calendar - Behind closed doors

I was about to quote Darkjewels post when that would ruin the point of it XD Anyways, I agree, while Orangemaid's Response was Magnificent, We should get back to the topic on hand.

I am very much enjoying the advent calendar. I missed day 3, But I spent the last of my feez on tokens, so I'll have to buy some more, get #3, and maybe another room.

The gifts are very nice. The plaid Jacket is cool and I plan on wearing it soon.

i missed opening the door on the 9th, but i used fee'z to open it the next day. does that still count towards opening all of the doors and getting the final prize in the end? (since i did not technically claim it everyday) and yes i agree with cookiebear, the plaid jacket is very nice ^^

That's a good question on the doors, and I've wondered myself. Unless the OMD team tells us I think we can only guess. I hope for everyone's sake with the optimistic 'yes', otherwise opening the missed doors becomes less meaningful.

I agree on the jacket, my favorite clothing piece so far. Seasonal colors without being Christmas-y. Though I like the subtle trim on the cardigan(blouse?) and the scarf makes me smile for some reason.

I'm still in love with that handsome fox as well. Can anyone point me in the direction of Holiday Lore relating to foxes? The only thing coming to my mind is Fox Hunts, which I hope aren't what are meant.

I think the exclusive prize will be the dress in the background and maybe a few other accessories.
