Re: Recommended books??

Oh boy. Since you already read Harry Potter(I LOVE YOU!), these are my top three books(mostly series) besides HP that would get you hooked.
1# Divergent. :3 It's an awesome series. There are three books in it in total, and the final book is yet to be released.
2# The Hunger Games. Need I say more?
3# Percy Jackson and The Olympians. It's based on Greek Mythology and it's supermegafoxyawesomehot!

Forgot to mention the House of Night series by PC and Kristen Cast. It's still an ongoing series.

Re: Recommended books??

Percy Jackson series and its sequels are novels. As well as the Hunger Games and if you're interested, the Narnia series.

I'm also reading "Septimus Heap" series and it's not bad.

Re: Recommended books??

The hobbit/Lord of the Rings and the Da Vinci Code/Angels and Demons are good ones, but for more light hearted reading, I'd say either Shiver or the Warrior Cat series. <3

I'd highly recommend A Song of Ice and Fire, but I don't recommend it either if you can't handle gore/everything bad in the world.

Re: Recommended books??

YA WANT BOOK RECS? I GOT BOOK RECS!!!

1.) Virals by Kathy Reichs : Believable-ish Science + Supernatural = WHOLE LOTTA AWESOME
((Though the 2nd book isn't as good...))
2.) Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green & David Levithan: I warn you now, homosexuality is a thing in this book.
3.) Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves : Warnings: Insanity, Gore, Monsters, Horror
4.) Slice of Cherry by Dia Reeves : Warnings: Gore, Blood, Killing, Horror, Slight Mental Issues(?)
5.) Variant + Sequel by Robison Wells : Warnings : Trapping People, Some Horror.
6.) Starters by Lissa Price
8.) Michael Vey Series by Richard Paul Evans : Warnings : Some Form of Psychological Torture is mentioned.
9.) Fathomless by Jackson Pierce : Warnings : Bit on the Horror/Tragedy side
10.) The Dark Unwinding by ((Sorry, Forgot The Author))

Hahaha... I should stop now before I start scaring you with all these Horror warnings. Anyway, they're not really that bad except for the Slice of Cherry, that kinda freaked me out a little at first.

Re: Recommended books??

Mostly fantasy, because that's my favourite genre. Some are more serious some less. And most of them has strong female characters.

- Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix
- Eon: Dragoneye Reborn and Eona by Alison Goodman
- His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman (There was a movie based on the first book from this trilogy. It was called The Golden Compass and it was boring as hell. The books are 100-times better.)
- The Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan
- Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews
- The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
- The Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
- Every single Terry Pratchett's book :)
- And even though I hate romance novels I really enjoyed Jane Austen's books as well as Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre.

Re: Recommended books??

You should read Pivot Point by Kasie West. The author for that book is friends with my mother, and I got to go to her first book signing. It's a good book and I loved it, and it's really clever. Go read it.

Re: Recommended books??

I find Erin Hunter's books to be a good read. There are the Warriors books (cats) which I'm currently reading, Seekers (bears) which I am also currently reading, and Survivors (dogs) which is a new series that I haven't read (yet), but I'm sure it's just as good as the other two, if not, better. Some other books I've read and recommend are Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, and The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting, or just Loft, I forget which.

          ~Just some recommendations

Re: Recommended books??

Aaahhh I miss having time to read so much like I used to but I did start a book and in one week I ended up reading half of it.
It's called "The Secrets of Jin-Shei" by Alma Alexander and it is set during Medieval China in which the successor was the daughter which is something we do not see everyday. Basically, Jin-Shei is some sort of bonding between two or more girls comiting themselves to each other, helping each throughout anything they are asked too.
It all starts with some young chinese girls from many places: a orphan girl that was taken into the Guard and fights; a girl that has a physical injury on her foot since birth that is very interested in religious matters; the daughter of a poor clothing lady; the 3 little empresses; etc all with ages between 9 and 15 and the story goes on as they grow up and get their Xat-Waus (when you turn into a lady, first menstruation) and all the connections they have through Jin-Shei and the adventures and missadventures of it.
Honestly, there are parts that are surreal in such way that you're already expecting it and then there are such normal things that you do not expect which makes the story very interesting because of that. Abnormal facts that you're expecting and normal facts that you end up not expecting and then another abnormal fact that gets you off-guard and dazzles you! Not to mention the inteligence of each girl into what they want.

As I said, I'm still half way through but so far it has been sooooo interesting!
