99% N00B here yall!

Hey hey people~

Oqei so if you have visited my OMD page, you probably know what am I refering about. If you haven't (go!), the thing is: I am interested in buying something online that requires Paypal paymente and I have never worked with Paypal. The only online shopping I did was national and it was payed at the moment I had the item in my hands.

So basically, I'd like to know your opinions and everything regarding online shopping, especially regarding Paypal. I am pretty "afraid", well more because it is just an unknown matter to me, and I would like to have some feedback from people I've already known than just going without knowing what the heck am I doing. Also because I need to convince mom~

In case you want to check out, I am thinking about ordering from here:http://brave.storenvy.com/
About the store, I've heard of people that have bought from there and like the quality of the store. So about that, I am slightly more comfortable. About the payment, not so much comfortable ahah!

Thank you to all that might answer~

Same thing over here.. I have never shopped online neither. So I have no experience.. I have never do it because I don't think its very safe. But if you have some friends or family that shops online you may need to ask them for help.

I checked the link of the online store you posted and I really like the items they sale. It's so cute!!! I'll maybe buy something from there.

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

I've been buying looots of stuff online, mostly clothes and cosmetics from all around the world and I've always been using Paypal to pay for the items because I don't have a credit card. I started with buying things from Ebay and Paypal was the obvious choice. I also used it several times to pay for some game currency of different online games. And the most important thing is that I use it for my work. Most of the people, I make commissions for, pay me for them using Paypal. It's definitely the easiest and cheapest payment method for me because the currency exchange rates in my local banks are insanely high.
Anyway, I've never had any problems with Paypal, it's been always working fine for me. I don't think Paypal is gonna cheat on its customers but the people you buy from may. That's why it's so important to always make sure that the seller is trustworthy. Most of the online stores have a space where buyers leave their opinions of the shop, but they might be fake, so it's always good to search reviews about the store on other websites as well.

The store you want to buy from is on a website called storenvy which is similar to etsy, so I'm sure that their staff will help you out if something goes wrong. I've never bought anything from there but they seem pretty okay :)

But if there a problem, like if you don't receive the item what can we do?

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

@Rhea, thank you for the fast reply! But well then, how do we "put money" on that Paypal account..? I do have a bank account although I /barely/ use it and I thought you had to pass money from the bank account to the Paypal one...  If not, how do we have money there...? I really don't know >-<
And I've seen many reviews about items from the store and they are always happy regarding shipping materials (like the package) and the condition it comes in.

@saffirelle, yes yes! They have such cute things~! I would buy like all of the store if I could muahahah! Also, usually, they have a time in which they will ship and send. Brave, as an exame, ships in 1-2 days and the package will arrive in 15 to 25 days, or so. If it does not come within that time, from what I've seen and heard, you should ask them if your package was not forgotten (they might have had many orders and yours could have been forgotten). If they did send it and you did not receive it, it means that it got lost somewhere along the trip or your national mail company screwed up and the store is not responsible for that. And usually they only give you your money back if the item is defective.

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

@Saffirelle - Paypal has Purchase and Seller Protection programs, so if anything goes wrong they can help you to deal with it. You can read on their website that "If an eligible item doesn’t arrive, or doesn’t match the seller’s description, our Purchase Protection will reimburse you for the full purchase price of the item plus shipping costs. Your purchases are also monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help keep you protected." But obviousely it's always good to contact the seller first as there might have been just a little mistake and everything might be fixed without much drama.

I had a problem with not getting my delivery only once so far and I actually wasn't paying with Paypal back then. I wasn't getting my package and so I contacted the seller. They were sending the package with a courier company and not a post and so we quickly found out the delay of my item was because of the courier that was a <put a nasty word here> and probably lost my package. I lodged a complaint to the courier company as well as phoned them to give them a piece of my mind verbally. I guess I was pretty scarry because the package was found immediately and I got it another day :)

@Jang - Yes, you have to send the money from the bank to the paypal account. On your account's page you have the "Add Funds" bookmark and then there are two options: add funds (in a few days) or top up account (instantly).
When you click the first one you will get redirected to a page where you will get all the informations on how to do that. There will be an account number and other datas and you will have to make a money transfer from your regular bank account. This usually takes about 1-2 days.
The other option adds the money immediately but I think (I can't actually remember if it's true. Can somebody confirm it?) you have to add a bank account to your Paypal account (you do that in the "Profile" bookmark). It's best when you have an online bank account. It may seem scary but it's really safe. I use that method as it's the fastest way.
The most important thing is that in both ways you have to use a bank account with THE EXACT SAME NAME as your Paypal account. So if the name registered on your Paypal account is John Smith you have to have a bank account with the same name on it.

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

Oooohhh! That makes sense!
Neh, is there any kind of... maintenance for the Paypal account? Do we always have to have money there and/or add some more every... month perhaps?

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

There are no maintenance fees and you don't have to have money there all the time. I didn't use my account for almost 6 months once and nothing happened. Buying with Paypal from online stores is always free, there are only fees when you sell things and when you make an international transfer, but the fees aren't really that big.

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

Oh man that is awesome! What about the currency...? Is Paypal set on some other currency or is it according to ours and later, when we do the order, it changes?

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

I can't remember if it automatically chooses your currency at the beginning or if you have to do it yourself, but you can set as many currencies as you want. I get payments for my work in many different currencies and then I change them later to my national currency when I want to transfer them to my bank account. Usually when you pay for an item bought in an online store you don't have to change the currency, it is done automatically by Paypal.

You're very welcome! I hope your purchase will go smoothly :)
The items from the shop are really cute, btw. I simply love the bear tights and the owl and sleepy cat bags. Super cute!

@Rhea: Yes, they are very cute~!

@Saffirelle: Do you mean taxes on having a Paypal account or buying things from stores? If it's the Paypal, Rhea answered that no. If it's buying something, you have the shipping fees.

I was talking about the price of the items on the store. You know the store website you showed us? I think I'll buy the wing ring and some of the cute stockings!

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

I was talking to the lady from the store and she said you can add whatever you want to your cart and, when you go there to view your items, it will automatically tell you the price and shipping fees according to your country. However I am still to know if it's those shipping fees alone of if it's those shipping fees + my country's fees.

EDIT:
I was now talking to Jane, the lady responsible for the shop, and the shorts are really small. According to her, when it stretches it reaches XS or S, just so you see how small it is. I guess I wont be able to buy this >-<

Re: 99% N00B here yall!

She told me it would go from XS to S when stretched so if you think it will fit you, go ahead. She said it was 32cm all around so basically 12cm of waist...
