I kinda want to start watching the show Game of Thrones. I've heard both really good and really bad reviews about it and want to know if anyone else here has seen it or read the books (I also might start reading those).
Now, I can handle gore and the other 'romantic' or shall I say 'turn the tv off before the baby gets nightmares' scenes (I'm almost 18) since its become very much clear there is a lot of that stuff in the show XD
I love it. I definitely think you should watch it. Though I find the parts with gore very hard to watch since I hate blood&guts type of stuff. You should at least watch the first three episodes and see how you feel. Then decide if you want to watch more (:
I absolutely love Daenerys Targaryen's parts :p
I read the first book and really found it disturbing. My husband started watching the first episode and turned it off because it was just really sleazy and violent. And we're in our mid-late twenties. I know it's wildly popular but we found it very overrated and unpleasant.
I've read the first book and I really liked it. A lot of "evil plotting" was going there and I loved that XD I will definitely read the rest of the books when I have some time and then watch the TV series. My brother on the other hand hasn't read the books yet but watches the show and he likes it a lot.
Snortmort, if you didn't like "Game of Thrones" then I think you should never try watching "Spartacus" TV series. Even I couldn't stand it.
I absolutely adore A Game of Thrones. It's very well written and very unpredictable. The characters are so well developed and I just can't.
I started watching it at the start of last year when I was 16, which I found was a good age for me as I was pretty desensitized to everything. (I watch it with my parents, which is not awkward at all)
I find it especially disturbing how like rarity said, people are 'desensitized' to these things. Our society at large has no issue with blatant sexuality, violence, perversion, swearing. I fear for the generation coming up now....
I fear for this generation in many ways, but not that :p I love how blunt we can be now, especially in drama/art is considered.
Anyways, deff watch it later :3 Only got like what... 3 seasons to catch up on
I don't think it's as bad as people think with this whole "desensitization". I'm capable of watching gore movies or play violent video games. I enjoy that stuff and yet in real life I can't even kill a small bug because I feel bad for him. Movies are movies and life is life :)
Anyway, if you like well-written stories with lots of suspense, intrigue and great characters (especially female ones) then you will probably like "Game of Thrones".
And 3 seasons to catch up aren't that bad. I personally prefer to have more episodes to watch at once. I'm impatient.
Im a Lord of the Rings, and Narnia addict I have a feeling I'm going to like this series. Strong female characters?! YAY!

I believe there's some good and bad aspects about desensitization. For one, my generation and the one's further to come will have more acceptance for homosexuals and bisexuals. I'm not implying that yours and anyone else's is wrong, not at all. I'm saying that we are growing up being told it's socially acceptable to be attracted to the same sex.
Our society's morals are always changing (for good or for worse) and in comparison to say 400 years ago, slavery and caste systems were considered the social norm. The thing I like about GOT a lot is that it gives a very realistic view on the living conditions for that time.
I believe no one can argue that our society today is better than the one's of previously because there is no correct society. I'm very open to change, but I don't doubt that in the next 20 years I will start judging the younger generation and their choices, too.
//On a side note, I'm not going to lie I don't think Adventure Time is age appropriate it's apparently accepted//
