"Not necessarily. I only assumed so. Even if it was hereditary, you know how usually energy gets stronger with every generation? Well dark and light energy get weaker, so for you to hereditary posses such a dark energy it mean one of your parents must have been a real dark bender... And I doubt the council would have let such benders alive so easily."
