Re: Opening of the Egyptian store

I am excited that the Egyptian store is reopened, however, that is one of the oddest looking statues I have ever seen.

I know that it's probably supposed to be Isis (although there are other female goddesses who are depicted with winged arms) but I have never seen an Egyptian statue with their knees bent together.  The only one I've seen is where the goddess or lady is sort of squatting or sitting. And the arms are usually shown or seen along with the wings.

As Egyptian history is one of my favorite historical periods/areas to study, I feel I am pretty familiar with a lot of art and I'm a little disappointed with this statue.  In the past we've gotten some really beautiful and realistic looking pieces, so I guess my expectations are high.

I have to wonder what is up with all the recent dolls, models, statues with the bent knees?  Are they lazy?  Have to go to the bathroom? (*thinks of the Katy Perry doll*) I do understand why with the models that aren't statues that with the bent knees you can place them on seats or other objects.

I'm using the Royal Palace (from the Royal Wedding anniversary) for my Egyptian room. The walls and floor look perfect for the style. applau

Re: Opening of the Egyptian store

The "statue" seems more like a harpy than a statue xD. Maybe its knees are bent for take off?

Now that you mention it, it DOES look like a Harpy.  But are there Harpies in the Eqyptian history?  Historygeek.... what say you?

Yup there is. They're more of Gryphons with human faces, as far as I can remember. There was also a god/goddess who fits that description.

I think this one is the clearest picture:
