Some information about the items you have to find :
- Baguette :
Bread is certainly, after the rooster, the emblem of France in the world!
The expertise of the French bakery is no longer in doubt.
It reminds me of the phrase: "If they have no bread, they will eat cake".
Legend lends these words to Marie Antoinette, Queen of France and wife of Louis XVI. She would have prounounced the sentence at the window of the castle of Versailles, to the Parisian people came to the King complaining about the rising price of bread.
- Umbrella :
Umbrella was made by a Parisian artisan in 1730. He had the idea of making an umbrellas of waxed tissue to protect themselves from the rain, Anyway the umbrella was invented by the Chineses in the fourth century.
The "Umbrellas of Cherbourg" is one of the iconics movie that lounched Catherine Deneuve!
The Umbrellas of Paris is also a luxury made -in-France brand internationally known.
- Portable easel :
It is believed that art easels have been created since the age of ancient Egypt, and are known to have been used by monks in the 12th century for their illuminated manuscripts. The development of the easel painting art was developed during the Renaissance and it changed completely the way the artist worked.
Although the easel is a simple invention, it is often regarded as ingenious as it really changed the world of art.
There are different types of easel, each offering a different type of support and sizes to meet the artist's needs.
- "Liberty Leading the People" :
"Liberty Leading the People" is an oil painting by Eugčne Delacroix, made in 1830. It is inspired in the July Revolution that suceeded to the Second Restoration, and it tooks place over three days, 27, 28 and 29 July 1830. These days are known as "three Glorious Days".
By allegorical appearance and political significance, this paint has been frequently chosen as a symbol of the French Republic or democracy. The paint is exposed in the gallery of the Louvre-Lens since December 2012.
And because a bit of general knowledge is never wrong :
Here some extra information about the France National Day :
The France National Day was established by law in 1880, in reference to a double date: 14th July 1789, the date of the Bastille taking, as symbolic day when absolutism and privileges ended, and 14th July 1790, the day of national unity during the Federation Constitution. 14th July it's bank holiday ib France.
A big military parade is organized on the Champs-Elysees in Paris and takes place at 10AM with the presence of the President of the Republic. Other parades and military ceremonies are held in most major French towns.
Fireworks are drawn in most French cities during the night of 13 to 14, and during the night between 14th to 15th in large cities. These nightly shows take place in open spaces, such squares, parks and splanades.
Many dances nights are organized in almost all cities. In Paris takes place the popular firemen's ball.
Good hunt and enjoy the weekend!!
