[Fashion Show] New Theme "Colors of Brazil"

http://blog.feerik.com/wp-content/uploads/Dollz/Defile_de_mode/theme_defilemode.png

The World Cup has just begun!  Rather than follow the games with my boyfriend, I have decided to visit the country to discover the landscapes and traditions with my host Paola.  Everything here is so warm and colorful.  With a refreshing drink on the terrace of a cafe, we come to talk of the World Cup national anthems and flags.  Of course we end up talking about the Brazilian flag.  Did you know, for example, the green color is made in reference to the Amazon rain forest?

For the Fashion Show, I challenge you to create a current outfit made with the colors of the Brazilian flag:
- Green, Yellow, Blue and White Accents.

You have until Monday, June 23, to register your Doll this for this theme, enjoy it until ends!

To register you will meet these prerequisites:
(prerequisites must be visible!)

- 2 items from the Amethyst shop http://www.ohmydollz.com/design/magasin/fr/amethyst-2.png
- Your outfit should contain at least one element of each color.  All shades of green, blue and yellow are allowed.
- It should be light and current.

Permitted Elements:
- Other colors for hair, makeup and shoes.
- Model used as a skin

Banned Elements
- Elements of a different color than the flag (except for hairstyle, shoes and mkeup)
- Gifts between friends.
- held-made (including the cabinets)

- animals
- second character or more
- big frilly outfits

Re: [Fashion Show] New Theme "Colors of Brazil"

Hello, I need the advice of a moderator. Apparently, the details of my outfit do not correspond to the theme.

I don't really know why people get disqualified in the english version of the game. If there was more participants, the votes would be fairer rather than people voting for their own outfit with an alt doll and biasing the results.

I spent quite a lot of time and money on this outfit. So, I'm dumbfounded. nrv

Re: [Fashion Show] New Theme "Colors of Brazil"

Is it the outfit you have got on in your loft you are trying to enter?  Some of the banned things for this show are, big frilly outfits & wings.  You've got the right idea with the colors though. :)  If you can make a few adjustments, rejoin if you want.

Its not fair on those who do follow the theme to not disqualify those that don't.

Hi, it is very hard to understand what you are tying to say here.  Please be clear if you want people to respond.  :)

Re: [Fashion Show] New Theme "Colors of Brazil"

I noticed a lot of the "yellow" in the outfits are really more "gold".  And the above frilly outfit that is banned, part of it is worn on one doll I saw.

Although I don't often enter the Fashion Show (or log onto the Board)... I do actually have one doll entered, so I am going to respond to this.

First...

cocobelle wrote (and this is the same information in the pop-up "News" posted by sarah):

To register you will meet these prerequisites:
(prerequisites must be visible!)

- Your outfit should contain at least one element of each color.  All shades of green, blue and yellow are allowed.

All shades of yellow are allowed... and gold is a shade of yellow.

Second...
The "shade" of yellow (or gold) that the graphic designer chooses for a particular item is beyond the control of players... as such, players must do the best they can with what is available. How many times has an item been introduced where you said, "Oh, if only it came in fill-in-the-blank" or "I wish it was a bit less (more) green/blue/plum/etc." ???

Third...
The categorization of color is subjective. There are many times I go looking for an item, expecting to find it under "red" but it turns up in "brown"... or vice versa.  Because there is some "crossover" in the color spectrum, there are many instances where an item could go either way.  When assembling my own outfit, I noticed that a great many items I would have called "yellow" were actually classified as "orange"! Does this actually make them orange? Not to my eye... but someone somewhere had to make a "judgment call".

Fourth...
Unless you actually own the item in question (or it is still available in the permanent stores), there is no way to be absolutely certain what "color" an item falls under... and, even then, you may not agree with the designer's determination.

Fifth...
I always refer to the French site when I have questions about what is/is not allowed... as players often post their outfits on the Forum, and their outfits are approved by AADs prior to entry. Most, if not all, of the approved outfits I have seen do include gold accents (clothing, jewelry, or otherwise)... and it is exceedingly difficult to find items that have zero "gold" accents (particularly with jewelry, belts, purses, and feathers; which were very popular in the French fashion show). Whether or not an item includes a "gold" accent is, again, beyond players control... they can only control the items they select, and I think most players try to be conscientious in their choices ^.^

Now, speaking personally, one of my own "yellow" pieces could appear gold"ish"... but not necessarily "gold", as that would most likely be a "metallic" item. But, metallic or not (and there are plenty of gold, metallic jewelry/elements that were approved in France):

All shades of green, blue and yellow are allowed.

Sorry if it sounds like I am taking this personally... but, personal or not, I am trying to supply valid & objective information, explanation, examples, and perspectives.  Also, sorry for the lengthy post... such is my nature (thank goodness I don't post often :P).  For the record, with regards to my own entry:

Personally, I do not vote in Fashion Shows I am participating in, so I have not seen the outfit you are referring to here. I do, however, vote in shows I have not entered (I enjoy looking at the outfits)... and I have seen that banned outfit, or components thereof, on another site.  I would prefer to see more emphasis placed on the continued and consistent use of "ready-made" (expressed as "held-made (including the cabinets)" in this post) dresses, complete outfits, and characters rather than miniscule nuances of color.  If a dress or "complete" outfit has not been altered, accessorized, or customized to make it different from the standard "off-the-rack" look (as bought from the store and, as such, identical to every other person who owns that item)... it is "held-made" (ready-made), as I understand it (which has been confirmed by a mod).

I have no doubt that moderating the Fashion Show is a big job, and off-theme entries do slip in... that is the nature of the shows.  Unfortunately, as frustrating as it is (particularly when off-theme entries win)... it is a well-known problem, and a chance you choose to accept when you decide to enter.  Remember:  There are more players that do try to comply with the themes than don't... that is the silver lining in this cloud ^.^

Re: [Fashion Show] New Theme "Colors of Brazil"

I agree with Noregrets, that gold is a shade of yellow, therefor I've not disqualified anyone for using it.

I do miss things, so I apologize if something banned slips by and I didn't see it.

Re: [Fashion Show] New Theme "Colors of Brazil"

There is no reason why one should feel that they cannot make a comment, express an opinion, or offer an explanation... so long as we are respectful to each other, with our replies, and of our right to see things differently. My reply was not intended to teach a lesson, merely to give my opinion of gold as a shade of yellow... with explanations & examples of why.  As I said, I tried to provide both valid & objective observations... observations that someone else might not have considered before.

I am sorry if you were offended by the length of my reply, and my attention to detail... as I said, it is in my nature (and present in almost every post I make).  I read, re-read, and revise my comments before posting to make sure my facts are correct and my tone is respectful... I even have others read them in an effort to avoid miscommunication.  If brevity is the only way to express respect, then I am doomed to a life of being misunderstood!

Since I am logged on again, which is tedious, hence the reason I don't do so often... I would like to offer a specific example (not directed to anyone specific, so please don't take this personally) to highlight the issues of "color categorization" I referred to earlier.

I wanted to use this belt for my outfit... it comes in a wide variety of colors:
http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24086.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24087.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24088.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24089.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24090.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24091.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24092.png

Though I was certain it was offered in yellow (mustard, gold, whatever you choose to call it)... I was surprised to find it classified as orange.  In no way, shape, or form would I call it orange... and I wouldn't hesitate to use it as a yellow element, no matter what the tag says!  Case in point, these are the items which are found in Basics --> Fashion Accessories --> Bags, Purses & Belts --> Orange:
http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/793.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/5707.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/10079.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/10406.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/17710.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/17810.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/19508.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/21371.png
http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/24089.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/32265.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/34124.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/51838.png http://us.ohmydollz.com/img/big/75536.png

I think we can all agree that calling some of these items "orange" is not accurate... we may agree to disagree on what color they are but, regardless of our opinion, they are "officially" orange!

Again, my apologies for any offense... none was intended.
