What a sad day for Cutieland. The night just before, the town sparkled with blazing hues, but now it seems void of any shimmering joy.

All the decorations made by the townsfolk are missing. The delicious dishes whose perfume filled the air? The massive piles of presents? Vanished!
"Christmas is canceled!"

This awful announcement of the mayor strikes terror into us all.
"No way!" I reply "I won't let Christmas nor the Cutielanders down!"

I might only be an amateur detective, but I will get our missing belongings back.

While searching the town square, I notice tracks that seem to lead outside the city. Following this strange trail I end up right on our christmas tree! Just there, a tuft of hair is tangled with the pine needles. A hairy tree walking on its own? I don't think so. It's a thief!

What kind of monster would steal Christmas?! I'll catch them and give back to the Cutielanders what's theirs.

Once the Christmas tree has been put back in the square, I meet the mayor in the workshop to show him my proof. He is too depressed by the missing presents we spent weeks crafting to support me.

But as we talk, a reindeer starts munching on the tree branches right by the door... and finds a slipper! This additional clue is enough to convince the mayor to let me take the case. Everyone has to cooperate with me from now on.


I lead a search around the town. Our culprit probably tried to flee with their loot, but the tree was too heavy to carry. With a little luck we could find more further on.

I was right! We find the gifts at the edge of the woods, concealed under a thin layer of snow. We all shout for joy as we bring them back to town.

The Cutielander's hope as strong as ever, they begin shaking the presents to identify them and get them back to their rightful owners.

However, there is still a long way to go. For what matters most at Christmas in this honest village is the festive mood and ambience. It's out of the question to spend Christmas without a buffet or decoration!

"The lab results just came in," says the mayor. "The hair you found didn't come from an animal. Once cleaned, they turned bright green. Here are crumbs that were mixed in them."

I never believed an enraged racoon was behind all this, but that new proof shows a single person stole all our belongings. An idea crosses my mind and I run at full speed to the old warehouse we thought was haunted for so long.

My hunch was almost right. Instead of my suspect, a delicious smell of gingerbread is waiting for me. All the dishes had been hidden there, but we quickly get them back to our kitchens.

To everyone this sounded like victory, but to me it's still a bittersweet one. I have no doubt about the identity of the culprit, even though I haven't caught him yet... Looking for new clues, I insist on searching a house before any returning present messes with the crime scene.

There! Right in front of the fireplace! Steps covered in soot! Those long feet, whose prints perfectly match the slipper we found earlier, everyone recognizes them.

"The Grinchet is behind all this!"
No shock can come from such a conclusion, she is famous for her tricks. And so we follow her steps, leading straight to her new hideout. The warehouse must have bored her, because she now sits on a peak overlooking the town.

The decorations weigh so much that her house is almost collapsing under them. As soon as we arriv, we start gathering them to bring them back to Cutieland.

Although everything is now ready, the Cutielanders are still not in the mood to party. All are waiting, their arms folded on their chest, before the house of the Grinchet. Little Mary Lou steps forward and knocks.

There appears our thief, with an annoyed look on her face. She lets out a long sigh then her squeaking voice confesses everything.

"Yes, I stole your stuff! Christmas drives me mad! While you're all feasting together, I end up alone. As always!"

Looking up to the rain of gobs, Mary Lou does not move but stares right into the eyes of the Grinchet.

"If you wanted to come and celebrate Christmas with us, all you had to do was say so! You have been avoiding us for years while we're always waiting on you. Now that all is settled, know that you're the last thing we're missing down there!"

Under the teary eyes of our thief, we leave for the village hall. Obviously, she follows closely and we all spend Christmas together as a joyful night ends upon Cutieland.
