Hello everyone,
It's another anniversary that we are celebrating for OhMyDollz!
Thank you for still being there, thank you for helping us keep the flame alive on this game that is dear to us.
I wanted to surprise you by showing you something special that we have been working on for a few months now and that is directly linked to OhMyDollz.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to do it today, it takes longer than I wanted and I will not be able to show you what I wanted to show you.
OhMyDollz in its current form is incredibly complicated to maintain. The website that supports the unity web version is in poor condition. Some menus are difficult to access and some icons are incomprehensible. It would have to be redone...
The Unity Web version is unstable and has bugs, some of which are caused by the fact that the different browsers do not correctly support certain graphic functions.
It also has interface problems...
So we thought about solutions and we decided to work on an OhMyDollz application. Maintaining the website is just impossible for us.
A PC/MAC application will allow us to be in a much more stable environment, much cleaner in code and to add features that we could not have on the web version.
Some examples:
- Instant and error-free loading and saving
- Drag and drop objects directly to the loft
- All countries can see all lofts
- Conversations look like a normal chat
- Bug fixes and return of music, tapestries…
- And many more things!
We will release the app as soon as we have an acceptable version. It will not be an exact copy of OhMyDollz, that's for sure, but we will add what matters to you as we go. And don't worry, your accounts work directly on it.
The quest system almost cost OhMyDollz its life. The new version will not work like that. It cannot work like that.
We are leaning towards a pack system but much more generous than what we can see on games like The Sims. This is our choice for now, time will help us determine the future.
We will be able to start making new outfits and objects again if the new version attracts new people who do not yet know the richness of the OhMyDollz universe.
We want to expose this version of OhMyDollz to many more people in the world. OhMyDollz is a network and a unique way of playing, a moment of calm and creativity too. And we all need that.
OhMyDollz will continue and I hope you will be with us to see this universe flourish again.
Long live OhMyDollz and thanks again to all of you.
Fred.

Thanks for this, I put this information on my page (for those who visit my page) because I have forgotten how to create a new forum post.
I give the game owner credit for continuing with the game even after the end of flash, a lot of game owners would have abandoned it & he has held on to the game longer than the previous owners. I don't think he has made a profit since acquiring the game but he still continued with it. The previous owners would have shut it down, they have the habit of abandoning games, they did the same thing with Elite dollz which didn't last a year, the mobile game they created after this game called 'Is it love?' (I never played it) was abandoned after 4 or 5 years, they sold it to ubisoft.
The current owner is to blame for not making much profit because he removed most of the payment options from the game apart from paypal & debit/credit card payments. If he wants to attract all ages of students from primary - uni, he has to include other methods of payments e.g mobile phones. The use of ads (& sponsors) is also a source of income for a lot of game developers & owners. He also removed the different ways of earning free feez from the game, that would have attracted more students. I hope this game becomes the success he wants it to be because he has made a lot of effort to mordernise it. There used to be a lot of this type of games but there are only few left.
He should put the app in the windows (microsoft) app store to advertise it for new members.
I think the comment left by dairladada (on the french forum) is also by the owner.
I am not sure how I feel about the move to a PC/Mac application and the possibility of no longer being able to log in via the website. I personally like the convenience of just simply opening my web browser and logging into OhMyDollz. No hassle involved.
I fear that the move will not be a smooth 'cure-all' for the issues they've listed in the post (quest system, instant loading, chat system, tapestries return etc). Instead, new problems may arise.
How many of the active user base will download and migrate to the PC/Mac application is questionable.
However, I do have immense respect for them persevering and continuing to develop the game even after the end of Flash and the problems they've faced with Unity.
It all sounds scary and exciting at the same time. I look forward to what might be coming for us.
I know that over the last.... wow!.... 15 years! I've spent a lot of RL money. Not only have I invested in money, but I've invested a lot of time as well. I enjoy just about every aspect of this game. I've made a lot of friends during that time as well.
I will, however, refrain from spending any RL money right now... until it is completely known how this game will end up.
Pc/mac only? Most people play on tablets and phones nowadays. Will there be an option for that?
Also, are we gonna lose all the items/rooms/etc we have as the last time?
Mmm... PC/MAC? What about the people who don't own a MAC? (I personally don't like MACs and their IOS and they are not completely user friendly with any other CAT tools I deal with). As previously mentioned, I strongly admire their resilience, they have been trying to keep the game alive and that is something remarkable. However, as Treselle mentioned in their post, there are ways to engage people and increase the number of players.
Let's wait...
I wonder which part(s) of the quest system were the sunk costs? I mean the release schedule was insane- so the design time was probably a major factor, I would not have objected if they added another week between quests, either, or had fewer, pricier items.
But Major Kudos for keeping this game running. I've often felt guilty for not actually putting in as much money as I think I should (have in more recent years with a stable income, but still not as much as it deserves).
I honestly think I would have spent more money if the Feez conversion ratio seemed to make sense, 35$$$ does not go very far, and I just hit a point where I hoard all my currency except to buy the VIP when needed.
Here is hoping to success in future endeavors to the company! (And that maybe they'd work on PoneyValley next if they succeed...)

I agree with 35 diva bucks not going very far. With all of the bugs we've had to endure, I don't think it's greedy sounding to wish that they'd up that to maybe 40 or 45db's.
I would like to know when this is supposed to start.
i wonder if anybody told the owner about ruffle (flash emulator). should be cheaper than unity and has improved the support for AS3 a lot since its early days.
since we still have the option to use flash from the interface, if ruffle is implemented on the site's end, many flash elements could be re-enabled at no cost for the owners...
i'm not willing to install an app just to visit a site-based game.
and IMO, there should be an option to purchase more than 35$$$ at a time.
just my 2 cents.
