Apparently, it's assumed you'll wear long socks or boots with the shorts. Not a bad idea really. If you watch any school girl anime, the skirts in their uniforms are always shorts, summer and winter, and many of those girls where really tall socks or stockings or whatever those things are.

Those socks are called 'knee highs'. But really, they wouldn't keep you very warm with those short shorts.

Or maybe the 'short-shorts' could be also worn with tights, or leggings perhaps. I wear them like that sometimes. I, personally, like the 'left' outfit more.

I really like the shoes on the right but in real life I can't wear shoes that high. As a teacher, I'm on my feet most of the day walking around the classroom.

My favourite outifit is that one on the left. Only I think boots would look better in that outifit... Just saying...
