Christmas is looming and I have seen a sudden increase in clothing adverts. Some of the things they advertise is just...not nice. Whats hot and whats not is always changing, but some things that are hot - to me are just horrid. Here are some examples:
1)
I don't get this. It's essentially a jumper, which your Grandma has just kept on knitting, forgetting your only what 5ft 4"? The turtle neck part and the shapeless figure it gives you ruins all femininity. Only really tall and skinny woman can pull it off. I haven't seen anybody wear one of these, ever. I don't really like dresses that come down to your ankle and aren't flouncy. Prom dress yeah awesome. But when they are like pencil skirts down to your ankles... you just look weird.
2)
I do like heels and a bit of platform is okay, but, BEIGE AND BLUEY/BLACK COLOUR. I'm sorry but it looks like someone has carve a block of wood, covered it in velvet and used duct tape as the straps. When would you wear them? I can't see what would suit them, unless you dressed in a quirky way. Once again shapeless and looks like your wearing clogs but making you taller.
3) And finally...
OOOOO classy leopard print. I love the shape and heel designed, but the colours look vomit worthy and the leopard print is such a put off.
Of course you might like some of these, but I have a very picky taste, especially in shoes.
What about you? What current trends don't you like?
lol that first one, Pica! It looks like it's straight out of a 90's magazine. Which, maybe means that 90's fashion is coming back in. Well, I guess it had to happen sometime! lol.
I can't really contribute to my thoughts on latest fashion trends as I haven't been shopping in a looooooooooonnng time, and the last few times were at thrift shops. I haven't shopped in the mall in like 2 or 3 years lol. Yeahhhhh I won't get into that.
BUT I'll enjoy laughing at this thread as it continues :)
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's why it's so hard for me to buy (female) clothes. xP
I'm no fashionista, but that first one looks like the wacky-waving inflatable arm guy that you see at car dealerships. I have practically no insight on the latest trends, but if I do know one thing it's that fedoras have suddenly become popular again. @_@;;

---- instantly thought of Family Guy
Even some male clothing I don't like. I don't get why the button is done up? You should be wearing a tie - you just look like a idiot who forgot the rest of his outfit.
Oh there was this guest in college today, his shoes....*vomits* they were like velvet looking clogs....really, I didn't get them at all.
I don't understand these type of shoes at all. They look like shoes a 5 year old would wear then complain about getting blisters...
lol I remember so many of the girls in my class wearing those gel-looking sandals back when I was in grade three. Which was....um....back in something like 1995. What'd I say about 90s fashion making a comeback :P
I guess designers can't make up new designs and have to revert back to old ones... Uh no thank you. Most 90s clothes and even early 2000s clothes should stay in the past.
I did say most because I'm sure not every single trend was horrible.

lol true.
well, the only thing i miss from the 90s/2000s is when (some models of) sandals looked like this:
instead of having a hole for the toes like those:
(sorry about the large images, i did not find smaller ones x_X)
Lol! I adore the first one! I'm going to be honest here. I'm going to insta-friend anyone I see who wears that first dress/sweater/shirt TOP! to school ^^ That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life!
The shoes are okay but those sandals...amm I anyway hate open toed shoes. I remember when everyone wore sandals like those of course this is me talking and I'm only a junior in high school. Go figure.

Jelly shoes!
I love the look of them, but they're not meant for wearing all day long, just in short bursts (found some in the discount section at Target a few years ago).

LOL at this one. I can hear the ad now ...
Always wanted to wear a turtleneck with your dress, but could never get them to fit properly? Worry no more! Now your turtleneck IS a dress!
So I did a little researching on the first dress. It's called
"American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey Long Sleeve Turtleneck Maxi Dress"
It costs 54 USD in Amazon and has any different versions.
I honestly thought I'd see a little more umm hate comments I guess? But every single one of those outfits has had a good feedback O.o
I don't even know. What is this world in which we live in?
I actually like the short version of the dress especially if it came in black (I love black haha) but the long version of the turtle neck dress seems a bit much. Way to constricted and covered to me :p
i'd actualy have a way to wear that "American Apparel Cotton Spandex Jersey Long Sleeve Turtleneck Maxi Dress" thing. here's how i'd do it:
1) cut the dress so you have a top + skirt;
2) cut one or both sides of the skirt so it looks more like either of those:
(used the OMD stuf pictures because it was faster to find XD)
3) remove the top's arms to make sleeves;
4) cut off the neck-part to make a bracelet or a leg accessory(if your leg is thin enough) or even a colar, with a few extra stuf;
5) make sure the items are not damaged, then just wear it XD
@darkjewels - i can see that way becoming a thing but just as it is? Not really.
Instead of cutting the neck area, i'd leave it and do the rest of what you said.
Also add the belt that goes above the waist and another on the waist. And a large wide bracelet would look nice with the way you described the better way of wearing the dress/sweater/top/thing...
Oh goodness. American Apparel. Like six or seven years ago I went to Toronto with a bunch of friends and one of my guy-friends really wanted to go to American Apparel because at the time he was trying to emulate the style of a weird friend of his who always shopped there, so we went to the store. First of all, it was in a SKETCHY location. Not cool. And then we all wandered around in the store and were very unimpressed by how weird the clothes were and by how much they cost! Yikes. Definitely not my style!
Hahaha oops that black dress actually looks really comfy. Definitely something I'd wear (minus the price tag) with maybe a long necklace and throw around some witch vibes. I don't mind American Apparel clothing but my wallet doesn't. They have a tennis skirt currently that I'm going to get around to buying though, because I've been looking ages for the perfect skirt.
Shoes wouldn't be my thing, but I can imagine some people pulling those well! Jelly shoes I don't mind but they look pretty uncomfortable to me so I wouldn't wear them .. I like the white clear with glitter ones the best because they remind me of childhood.
To be honest I try to keep an open mind about what people like and what people want to wear, because I know a lot of the clothes I own or wish I had wouldn't be "pretty" in most people's books (i'm not pulling the unique snowflake act i promise). Only thing I can't stand really are thongs .. ironically I'm Australian but feet are icky why would you want to show them off *shudders*.
This is why I'd rather just not shop.
But things I hate the most in trends right now? Teen shops!!
As the older sister of a 13yo girl, I see some drastic differences between her and me:
- I used to only get hand me downs or the fashion at stores were absolutely cute anime college girl in a decend size.
- I see my sister using long bras as shirts (those are bras to me), 70's curtins or miserable painter's work folded in what seems to be leggings or pants and shoes. Also, sometimes I cannot find her in a crowd of teens because they look all the same!!!!
Oh and those neon clothes they were wearing over the summer. What are you girls? A late night Las Vegas casino entrance?! Jeez...
Though I do like Monster High's shoes a lot...
@angelfire: lol i know right XD
yeah, and indeed, no need to cut the neck... specialy with the rest of the changes there XD i'd actualy only cut the neck if i wasn't cutting the arms off XD(i'm talking about the dress' parts, of course lol)
and the bracelet idea sounds gorgeous *-*
@janghyunae: and people keep asking me why i buy male clothes from teen stores(since i'll be stuck to teen-size for the rest of my life)
and the neon stuff... o_O i only wear neon on my nails and usualy all surrounded by black or covered up by silver so it's no longer visible from 478326537824km away. in an oufit i'd only wear neon as a tiny detail on a black top or dress.
the other day i went to the movies and saw a guy with NEON PURPLE pants! i did not see anything else besides the pants xP i was like: lol, ok then XD
nothing against these people who wear clothes that allow you to easyly spot them in the middle of the amazon from the space, but i just would not wear that XD
@br0beck lol when I read "thongs" I was thinking of the panties. Not the shoes. Haha. Around where I live, thongs are most definitely the tiny panties and flip-flops are what we call your 'thongs'. Ha. Funny cultural word differences!
This.....is....well....it's not the worst thing. I'd wear it.... BUT why the tassels?....its like if you lean forward a bit its a prime play toy for your cat. It's all lumpy and weird. I would wear it at a push...but it just looks stupid

you've read my mind about this one XD
I'd like for us all to take a moment to Google... Creative Fashion.
(Eh? What is she? An Asparagus?)
No.
There are some really nice creative fashion outfits but this?
NO.

^^ That green thing, looks like one of those couture outfits, which in the fashion world, makes it all right. :-P

Add some red and green to this sweater with a picture of Santa, and you have a contender for those bad holiday sweaters.
Also, I'm jealous that little girls get cute, colorful clothing. Adult clothing seems so drab, especially in winter.

Okay, so you girls have already posted some really wacky stuff up there already. And I must say, you girls are right! None of those clothes look good on ANYONE! They're the UGLIEST clothes I've ever SEEN, in my opinion! But still, I have some clothes that are somewhat...worse.
So here is one that I find simply TERRIBLE.
First off, I hate the shape of this dress. I hate the neckline and the straps. None of these features are flattering, in my opinion. Second, I hate the shade of this dress. Black is the worst. It's the color -- or shade -- that I absolutely hate the most. It's so dreary and boring and depressing. And plus, there's no sparkles on thins dress! There's no bling! No patterns! No colors! It's just so BORING. Though this dress is a classic, I find it everything but that.
Now, here's a fashion trend that I cannot stand.
This fashion trend has gone on for WAY too long, if you ask me. At first, the moustache was just a symbol of popularity for Movember. I find it great that people are getting themselves informed about this, since it is a great cause to help cure a serious illness, no doubt about that. But even after Movember, the moustache gained huge popularity in the last few years. I mean, I see moustaches EVERYWHERE! On clothes, accessories, books, furniture, on EVERYTHING! Heck, I even once saw a CAR with a moustache! I find this EXTREMELY annoying, especially since most people are just wearing a moustache for fun or for "fashion", and not even to raise awareness for colon cancer. But the trend I hate the most about the Moustache Craze ? The FINGERSTACHE. It's just so UGLY! And, quite frankly, it's DISGUSTING! Not to mention dangerous, too! The ink can penetrate into your body and literally POISON you if you get enough of it!
Anyways, here are the rest of the fashion trends that I absolutely hate.
The witch boots. That's the name that come to my mind when I see these boots. Every single time, they just get uglier and uglier! So pointy, so crooked, and so UGLY! The colors are just as bad, and, believe it or not, they make the shoes even uglier!
All in all, these belong in a Cosplay shop, not in a fancy boutique. Like the picture below.
Okay, so these aren't as bad as the other ones I've viewed so far, but they're still pretty gross. These are classic work pants. They're plain, shapeless, and TOTALLY unflattering! They look like 80's pants! And once again, they're black, which I absolutely hate. All in all, I'm just glad I don't have to wear these to school. Yet.
An ugly-colored, ugly-patterned, ugly-shaped cat toy. There's really nothing more to say about it.
