The last time I tried to make an outfit (it was my 2nd attempt) was about a year ago. Since then, I hadn't started anything new. For the last couple days, however, I attempted to create something. It was an OMD version of a coat I'm in love with!
Ladies and ... ladies? Here is my latest OMD Designs, Pretty in Fall. I do NOT own the hair, shoes or the models. Just the coat and leggings!
This was the original coat:
What does everyone think? I'm kinda proud with the shading and lighting. It still needs work in my opinoin, but it was my first attempt in doing shading and lighting for clothes.
Any tips? Suggestions?

I really like it <3 Especially in red!!!!!!!
Navy blue please
I'd have to go with the pastel pink and blue... classic! The coat is so cute ~ good job paying attention to the ruffles and pleats :)
I think the button might benefit from a little perspective and detail, but for your first attempt at shading 0.0 better than my first attempt(s)! I love how you kept it clean and simple instead of going crazy with the smudge tool like some people do LOL
Great job! :aomd_bravo:
Green is my fave. You have done a excellent job! Maybe with outlining the coat in the shaded color. Adding in the crease marks on the inside of the elbow areas. I love them. Great job! I can't wait to see more from you.
They're amazing Varky!
Woah that's just so incredibly sweet looking <3. I love the pink one but all of them are awesome!
THANKS A LOT GIRLS!!! Your encouragement helped a lot!!!
@mimi078: The button did need more love, huh? I'm planning to revisit this coat after 4 - 5 more designs, hopefully then I'd look at it with fresher eyes and that button will get fixed!
As for the smudge tool, I actually don't even know how to work that out :D Soooo....uh...beginner's luck? :P
@emajenz:
I totallya gree actually. How did I miss that?! I tried applying the outlines in this one a bit more. Think it still needs more outlining?
And the one I had been working on. This one is a little gift for Shadowchild as she liked this one last time we talked about it!
This one was inspired by/ OMDified from:
I love these designs darky!
For the second outfit though, the bottom part of the dress (the end) looks a bit...flat for lack of a better word.
Looking at the picture, there's more flow. And I don't know if it was intentional or not but the bottom part looks stiff. By adding a few deeper curves, you can get a more loose look for the dress.
I really like how you did the belt on it! The shading and the wrinkles make the dress fit together!

The pleats are so accurate (I'm so lazy with pleating, so there's a little jealousy there haha)!! I think to help with the "flat" look that angelfire is talking about if you added a few select pleats to highlight - whatever is logical for your light source and a little on the bust... I don't think "deeper" pleats are necessary unless you want to play with that. It's inspiration, so it doesn't need to look ***exactly*** like the picture ;)
How about now, girls? I kinda did it differently here. A mixture of both?
Aaaaand a new one I've been working on. This one really had no reference per se. I did look at how shading was being done in OMD in general, but none of them were similar to things I was doing, sooooo....Anyways. Nuff said.
Oh! And I made my first wig. I have no regrets. :ok:
Daaaaarky everything looks sooooooooo sweet <3 *patiently waiting for some awesome shoes to match the awesome dress*
Those are so sweet and I love the wigs
OHMY!!!!!! Darky, you rock! First off I love the jacket, very cute and simple. It’s not quite as good as the dress but it really is amazing for your fist try.
And the dress!!! that one I love, I want it in every color right now!!! You did such a good job with the pleats and the making it look like the original (witch I still like.) I just can't say it enough, I LOVE IT!!! The your wig is super cute too, nice highlights and shadows.

I can't believe I didn't see these sooner. You are defiantly good at this, keep it up. :)

*Cough* Sorry for the fangirl, total fashionista right here.:aomd_bravo:
I love the way you're doing wigs!!! They look so cool!! I especially love the color palate you used for the pink one (not the OMD-pink -although I like that too- the other one)
And my favorite color of the dresses is the black and white and the pink necklace :3
I think you have done a very nice job on all of your pieces, I hope to see all of them in the stores one day!

@ruki: I actually am having trouble finding shoe styles that we don't already have :D But I'm working on some that should be out soon. One is panda inspired ;)
@shadow: Thanks!! i'm so happy you liked it!!!
@bloodsy: You rock, bloodsy!!
@Angel: i'm still experimenting with the shading and brightness of hair. Still haven't decided on the palettes, but I think I like the pinks, too.
@aprettylittleliar: I really am flattered!! THANKS!!!
Thought I'd post a quick preview of one of the many things I'm working on.
Currently in my queue: An outfit for the back doll, a back doll mannequin, a design of shoes, a new wig, a dress and then ... the following dress. Can you guess which movie this is from? ;)

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!!!
I haven;t finished it yet as I want it to be as good as I can, but...soon very soon!
A quick thing! I haven't done any shoes yet, so I decided to work on one design to start this off and then one thing led to another and you have this:
Color Varitaions:
Original Inspiration (The design is not the same but that's what got me going):
Cuteness overflow! Rainbow explosion in 3...2...1... OMG SO CUTE!!!! I love love love the pinkish peach one!
DARKY!! Man all these designs are so well made and the shading and color palletes are fantastic. The way you create pleats ughh I'm so jealous </3
I'm so excited for Hermione's dress because I love it and I wanna see it so badly. even the unfinished one looks great tbh the basic outline for the pleats are great.
The hairline on your wig seems a bit high but other than that everything looks great ahhh you're so talented.
@Ruki: THANKS! Glad you liked them :D
@xemo: THANKS! It means a lot coming from you as I'm a fan of your art style. I agree about the hairline. I better fix it soon.
And here's the hermione dress. I actually had the wig, too, but my laptop ended up losing it and I got angry and decided to just post the dress for now :P I know lazy right?
It's sooo cute :star: and for some reason I like it more than the original "real" dress
Wow! I really love the pinky red one you made!
