Is anyone else getting these ads?

I logged in today with my computer for the first time in a few days and there were ads EVERYWHERE. It's also bugging up the news page:

What is going on?

Nope everything is working just fine for me. Have you tried to run a virus scan on your PC?

Re: Is anyone else getting these ads?

I've run several scans, and everytime my WebRoot says that there were no viruses detected. OMD seems to be the only site that is heavily affected by this.

Re: Is anyone else getting these ads?

I haven't used my own computer since Wednesday night, and it worked fine then (I've been using my 3DS since). My adblock on Google Chrome *sort of* works; like it'll block 1 out if 15 ads that appear. Also, on the forum there are a bunch of randomly selected words that are highlighted in green now. I'm going to keep using my 3DS/WiiU until I can figure out a way to solve this mess. -_-

Re: Is anyone else getting these ads?

I think I remember having a similar problem over a year ago. It was some kind of a plugin or adware (not sure how to call it) that caused it. It installed itself without my kowledge.
I can't remember precisely what did I do to get rid of it, but you can try checking your toolbars, plugins, add-ons or extensions to see if there is something suspicious. Uninstalling or disabling it should work. You can also simply uninstall your web browser and install a clean one again.

Rheasilvia I believe you are right. I had that happen awhile back when I updated FireFox.

going to the control pannel(or whatever is the name in english). going to add/remove programs(or whatever is the name in english) and then checking out for suspicious softwares... this is most likely how rheasilvia solved it.
ps: good luck.

IF it doesn't work, you'll have to back up your important stuf and format the computer*
*(how do i say "formatar o computador" in english?)
just in case google mistranslated: you'll have to reinstall the operational system and everything else.

I actually started backing up my files this morning. According to my brother, he "removed" some suspicious software from the computer; This is coming from the same person who caused the last infection that ate up Google Chrome, then the SAME VIRUS coincidentally got onto my aunt's cpu the following week. (Which is, to this day, still infected. Never trusting customer service again with infections.)

Most of the ads are gone, HOWEVER it's still running suspiciously slow. I'm gonna go through every last inch of this computer myself and see what has been causing this mess. Thanks all, I thought for moment that I'd have to stop using OMD. Looks like I won't have to now!
