I bought the extension for the Living room, but I can't remember if that was an event or not...

The "extension" for the main loft wasn't something to buy; it was acquired by reaching level 101. The other extensions should appear in your "architecture" area (where the rooms are available to buy) and would be available after you purchased a particular room.  The kitchen & bathrooms, sadly, do not come with extensions.

The extension you have for the "living room" is for the "Second Living Room"
