Ooops that wasn't my mistake but I sure will fix it. Thanks for pointing that out.
So are the store requirements from Sarah shop or Basic. It says Sarah but show the Basic store icon. ??

No problems, everyone makes mistakes sometimes :)

It is the Basic shop that you will need to use.
I guess I thought "ballgown" meant a full poofy skirt/bottom of dress instead of a "mermaid" lower portion of the skirt/bottom of dress look. At least that's how those styles are referred to on the show, "Say Yes to the Dress"
I am seeing so many "mermaid" style dresses and straight long dresses as well. Not a lot of actual "ball gown" styles. Or at least.... not yet.

Instead of this:
and not this:
and not this either:
not this:
can't have "friends" with you in the FS

Pretty much the only requirement included in the description is that the ball dress has to be long, nothing about how full and poof the skirt has to be, so I personally see nothing wrong with these less full dresses as long as they're long. Fashion changes and the ball gowns haven't always looked the same, formal attire for women from Regency and Edwardian eras had rather narrow skirts for example.
But obviously the last doll whose screenshot you shared is against the rules. There's a secondary character and she's not even wearing a dress of any kind.
Btw, I totally forgot I wanted to take part in it...
I agree with Rheasilvia. Look up images "ball gowns from the 1920's" /1930's etc..(think Downton Abbey).
We've had a show in the past that specifically said hoop like skirts, and yeah these would be wrong for that. But it says ANY Period which also means ERA. the short skirts and pants are definitely out.
Not sure about the showing of one leg?
Personally, the way I see it is if the dress is long, even if showing one leg, it's fine.
The person with the second character is definitely not.
Mmm.... Let's see... I have always thought the following: ball gown = Cinderella's poof dress. Otherwise, if we think that a ball gown is a "short" dress or a dress showing a leg or a not poofy dress, then... what would be an "evening gown/dress" or a "formal dress" or a cocktail dress? Just curiosity... Plus, if you type "ball gown", most of the pictures display a poofy skirt and a corset or top.

I think the confusion is coming from the name of the contest, but in this show, the only requirement (like Rhea mentioned above) is that the dress is long. That's the reason behind I said above.
I guess the 'story' or the 'title' are the ones causing the confusion. Requitements are usually what drive the judging though so I guess let's stick to that.
Yep because even fantasy was okay, like wings or futuristic. So remember this is coming from French and translations my vary. Like the last week one choice was West Indies, which is different from India, and yet 3rd place was from India. So if the English posts that way you can't really fault the entering doll.
The show requirements also change from server to server, as well. That's why I was saying requirements are what matter usually.
If a person was ever lucky enough to buy a gown at Kleinfelds from "Say Yes to the Dress" and you ask for a "ballgown" style dress... that is what they will drag out to show you.
Last night I was looking at the entries on the French server and of course the French players go "all out" in creating their dresses. Virtually every entry had poofiness.
Showing a leg while the bottom is long, seems okay but not showing both legs.
If anyone has a French doll and you haven't checked out their entries in the Fashion Show, I highly reccomend it. Just to look at all the beautiful creations they've come up with and to maybe give a person an idea for future FS, etc.
Since I have a French doll I went on and checked out their FS and these are the first 3 outfits that were shown to me.
... lol
Anyway, there are both absolutely gorgeous and detalied dresses as well as more simple gowns both here and on the French server. If your idea of a ball dress is one with a full skirt then I'm sure that's how you dressed up your doll and that's how you will vote. But other people may have other preferences.
Btw, when I googled for a ball gown (but I used Polish language instead of English) I got an equivalent number of full and narrow skirts, a bunch of dresses with one leg showing and even several short dresses. I got a very similar outcome when I searched for a ball gown in French.
Also a VERY simple explanations of the terms:
Formal wear - a general term for outfits worn during formal occassions, so pretty much everything under this (also national outfits like sari for example).
Coctail dress - worn for a coctail party and semi-formal occassions usually before evening. Commonly considered to mean a shorter and less elaborate dress, think "little black dress". But it used to be long as well (because back then every dress was long so duh!)
Evening gown - a long dress worn for evening and formal occassions. It could be pretty much anything as long as it looks luxurious.
Ball gown - the most formal, worn exclusivly to balls. Must be full-length. Currently mostly considered to mean a full-skirted dress showcasing neckline, worn with a formal shawl/cape/coat, jewellery and opera-length gloves. This idea started around the 50's but previously it depended on the general fashion trends of the times.
Gotta find my e-books about historical fashion :)
I think more people forget this rule:
** ATTENTION: Are considered as “ready-made” non-customized outfits. You must customize your outfit to at least 50%.
As pretty as they are, some dresses are just slapped on the doll, with no embellishments. Creativity counts.

I agree.
And to everyone else, I'm not trying to be argumentative... I guess when looking at the entries, I saw a lot that... as Silverstarshine has said, "slapped on the doll, with no embellishments" plus, the ones that were short, etc.
I'm sorry if I've offended anyone by my views, that wasn't my intent.

I don't think any of us has been offended by your views. You totally have a right to have and share your preferences. I just felt that the official description wasn't specific enough to warrant any action. I may personally not like some of the outfits but they are fine according to the rules.
And yeah, the slapped-on ready dresses are rather unfortunate, but thankfully they aren't really that common. I suppose they are mostly entered by either some new players or kids, who just really want to take part in the FS.
Thankfully there are many participants this time with some really cool outfits, there's a lot to choose from :)
Kinda unrelated: Dose this Kleinfeld only sell wedding dresses? They are really pretty but I have a hard time navigating their website. Why do they want me to log in, I just want to browse through pretty dresses!
I only received 15 Diva Bucks and NO item multipliers, no tokens and no gift vouchers.

I won 2nd place on the CN version of OMD and I also did not get my prize- only 30 DB.
Maybe the prize hasn't been fully credited yet?

Sounds like everyone is receiving the next price down instead of the prize level they should have won. So if you got 3rd place, they are giving you the 4th-10th place prize instead of your deserved prize.
When I logged back in later this morning, they had added another 15 DB's to my account as well as the multipliers.
9/04: 544
9/05: 560-won 3rd place
9/05: 557-changed skin
9/05: 572-other half
